Not just seller, a buyer is now hard on ebay

It seems that eBay is currently implementing a very strict AI system, particularly for accounts that have just registered as sellers, but this isn’t limited to sellers—it can also affect buyers. I tried to purchase an item priced at $150 using a credit card and received the error message: “Please check your payment details or use a different payment method.” Then I tried buying another item priced at $5, and the same message appeared again. Next, I tried using PayPal, but I still got an error message, this time stating: “PayPal is unable to process your payment at this time. You can try changing the payment method in your PayPal account or select a different payment method.” In this situation, that even if you successfully list items on eBay without restrictions, potential buyers may still have difficulty purchasing your items.

It has nothing to do with AI ..... Ebay has been extremely slow for sellers ever since mid March because eBay checkout system is BROKEN! I operate around 30 stores and my sales declined yet my impressions are going up. Lot of buyers trying to purchase but they cant.

eBay checkout system is not BROKEN, it shows that when I submitted the payment, I received a notification from my bank that the payment had been successfully charged for the full amount, but a few minutes later the payment was reversed; something in the eBay system blocked the transaction to cancel the order.

How would you know sales declined on eBay?

There is usually a reason for a decline like mismatch of shipping address on their account, or if they have a pattern of chargebacks.

Anyone who has their own website knows the importance of this. And you don't know declines on eBay so not sure the point of this.

Sales are down across the board - Lucky to have one sale a day at this point... For us, Etsy is beating the pants off eBay, mostly due to their investment in advertising

I personally find sales to be about the same since the beginning of the year. If you are in a competitive category, make sure to see where your item shows during a search, run sales, adjust promotions a bit.

Was it a personal cc or gift cc?

Your account may have some kind of red flag, even as a buyer. eBay's stock price is continually hovering around "record high" territory so I think the company as a whole is doing just fine.


To be honest, sounds like you're tripping a fraud filter. Is there an address mismatch?

Nah, The buyer account I tried is in good standing and has never had a chargeback. I also tried it on another account, but the problem persists. This issue has been widely discussed in the eBay community.
