Etsy fee and Google search fee

With my recent Etsy orders,the buyers come from Google ,so I have to pay both Etsy fee and Google search ,leaving me with a nickel in profit.
Why is ETsy such an XXXX,it did nothing to bring me the business.?

Google ad placement brings traffic to the site which increases Etsy's revenue. You can't really expect the platform to eat the cost when they can just as easily pass it along to the seller.


What kind of items have you been selling on Etsy? Seems like you're all over the place these days.

i HAVE TO PAY ETSY FEE AND GOOGLE SEARCH FEE,google $70 and Etsy 37.
Etsy takes our listings and made them visible in Google search,sellers have complained and want to opt out,small sellers can but not large shops.
We pay listing fee on Etsy,unlike Ebay.
ETSY search engine sucks canal water,nver understand why its stock price is in the $80s?

I remember a few years ago when Etsy started forwarding the Google ad costs to sellers, there were several people here mad about it.

$70 seems kind of high for artsy crafty stuff but if it's not worth the expense, just deactivate your account?

No,I dont sell much on Ebay,Etsy is my main shop.
I do not mind Etsy taking a cut but in this case it is its full fee,but Google did the work,Etsy should take a small fee,afterall we also paying a listing fee.
In some cases,I hardly make any money ,some sellers even lose money,I am not sure if they can get GOOGL fee back if they cancel the order??

Fair enough. Wasn't meaning to spread misinformation.. I just remember a few people on here a while back who were saying Etsy started forcing Google ads on them.

According to their website, if you've never had more than $10k in sales for a 1 year period, you can in fact opt out of offsite ads.

Have you looked into disabling offsite ads, agent? Or is your sales volume too high?

My sales is more than $10k.
Etsy search engine must be programmed by an 8 years old,it is useless,it should use our money to come up with a better search engine.
Etsy sales is very slow right now,why is its stock trading at $72.
Many brick and mortar stores open Etsy shops,it cannot have 2 prices,one for brick and mortar price and one for internet price,so they are at an disadvantage to some of us who sell on internet only.

Kinda messed up to label someone as something that has nothing to do with what they said though. I've studied the Nazi's and rsot comes across as the furthest thing from one.

is this why my 2nd etsy feels dead? etsy used to be my main shop before i got banned...i was pumped to get back on safely. but ive gotten 3 sales in like 9 months

I have only one Etsy shop/
Sales is slow everywhere,because consumers have less disposable income for discretionary items.
My sales is better than most shops,as my prices are lower,some Etsy shops are brick and mortar shops,they cannot have 2 prices,one for Etsy shop and one for their physical shop,but I sell on internet only so I have an advantage over them.

They are looking for items which hold their value,no more cutie pie or homemade stuff like pillow,stool,candles,pillows !
Worse,some are not buying and some are reselling they have bought from you !

Over the weekend,I just made 3 sales,my cost is $172 and sold for $550,$565,$575 ,sadly I have been sitting on those items for years !
So there is holding cost !

Sadly Etsy ad fees are steep, but it sadly is required to bring in traffic from Google products search mostly...
