In the simplest of terms, mac is an identifying part of a network. It is unique for each computer using a network.
MAC address - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

OK, so where does that leave you or me in regards to amazon? I am yet to be convinced that amazon track 'us' by mac address. My gut feelng is that there are other factors that cause the dreaded suspension.
But, in all fairness, this is just what I think. I use x2 accounts, same computer. I have not done any mac spoofing. The accounts are like eBay Stealth creations.
Anyhoo, 'Seller, that's my .2cents or if you are selling on amazon uk, my 10p

if you like pm me about those lost accounts....we might find something

You can change your mac address using a number of free mac changers available at download.com

I would recommend Techitum Mac address changer.

These wont do any harm but will give you piece of mind

I think you have obtained some incorrect information or misunderstood something. A MAC address is used for link-level transmission. i.e. between the two ends of a direct link. Ebay can only obtain the MAC address of the machine directly connected to it . Considering a visitor is highly unlikely to be connected to ebay's server through a direct link, ebay will see the MAC address of the router that forward the request to them, instead of the sender's. This is basic networking concepts. There is no way they can obtain your computer's MAC address.

It's not the mac address. It is the nic adapter.

They must definitely track via mac address; most large sites do. It's a reliable way to track individual machines, and therefore individual users. These identifiers are no more hidden to Amazon then your IP address is hidden because it went through a router or two.

I think some people have the wrong idea here. First you have the NIC adapter (NIC stands for network interface card). Every NIC (whether wireless, wired, or bluetooth) has a unique MAC identifier, which was the whole point of the MAC naming standard; to uniquely identify every piece of network hardware on the internet.

I got the feeling that the mac address changers didn't completely change your old mac, but maybe that was just the ones I looked at.

Amazon tracks MANY more things about an account than eBay does.
If you are using the basic eBay Stealth strategy to open Amazon accounts you will be linked just about every time.
Amazon does track the basic items:
names, address, phone, bank account, flash cookies, credit cards, & bank accounts.

They ALSO track a few more items.
So study the forum and you might be able to figure it out.
I will NOT post it here due to internets prying eyes.
You can get around their tracking. It is possible.

This discussion is on the right track......

^^^^^^
Check your account again at the 90 or 91 day mark.
You will be able to move it to your checking account then.
Just make sure you have a account on the books with them.
