Default Taxes/duty on larger shipments from china

Was wondering if someone can help me figure out what kind of tax or duty I will have to pay on an incoming package of about 30kg from China. It's actually about 60kg but he said he would split it into two. Its being shipped by DHL if that matters and it stuff from dhgate(army seller on there). I know it has to do with the value, I paid $844 usd if that helps.

Also, how do I pay these duties or taxes on it? to DHL delivery guy?

I have been ordering mostly smaller packages under 10kg shipped via EMS so I haven't had to pay any tax/duty or whatever you call it on them.

You need a supplier who knows how to ship properly!

Usually you pay after you have received the item. If you keep changing the name on the parcel going to the address, you won't have to bother about paying the duties.

You pay after you receive them? so I would get a bill in the mail or?

This is my first shipment of over 21kg so hopefully I wont have to pay duty then

You have to pay taxes on ALL shipments above $20. Customs are not stupid, there normal human beings like us.

Even if you mark the item as $60 and as a gift, it's obvious that the value is incorrect due to the size and contents of the package. My suggestion is to keep the value of the package reasonable and pay the taxes. You will have to pay upon delivery of the package. I usually send and receive packages via UPS and Fedex, they both have my credit card on file. They bill me via credit card and send me an invoice.

If you are receiving items from USA by Fedex, UPS OR DHL, they will charge you $20 handling fee for customs. It all depends on the method of transport, UPS do not charge a handling fee if the item is being shipped via Express mail from usa.
