? Deposit and see if all good - what exactly are you concerned about?

You aren't doing any make-home-at-money stuff or you? WHAT NUMBER DID YOU CALL? I capitalize this because the number on the checks have been reported as being BOGUS in the past....you call and they say the check is still good.

Be careful with the internet scams.

Were you expecting money? Thats kind of important!

Do you know what they are for? You dont just get checks for nothing. If you were expecting money, fine. Go to your bank in person and deposit them. If you were not expecting money, ask yourself why someone would send you checks...

I would agree that's odd but best thing to do is go to chase branch directly and deposit or cash.

So you got a bunch of checks for $1000s of dollars and you just think its your lucky day?

What information did you give when you called? Your bank account number?

Man, CC companies used to send those out all the time, but have not seen any in the last few years.

They are considered cash advances on you card and are hit at a higher interest rate if you do not pay back in 25-30 days. Plus I think they was a small fee for using them.

Basically, it is the CC companies way of getting you into more debt.

Ahh, right. That too. Forgot about the "free" cash advances in the mail!

Much better than some scammer getting your info.

Ok, step back a bit here. They say its a real cashiers check. But from who and for what?

You dont just get money in the mail for no reason.

Well, its a lot of money and if you dont know where its from or what its for, that's just plain bizarre. My 1st reaction is some kind of scam. But what kind of scam gives you a ton of cash....

You wouldn't have had that kind of money on a prepaid card you forgot about I have to assume, so I'm just as stumped as you are.

My suggestion would be to go to a Chase Bank branch and ask to speak with a manager. Tell him/her what you told us. Let them know that you are somewhat suspicious, but that the money COULD be owed to you, that you are unsure. Tell them that you just want to make sure this is not a scam and that you are not doing anything illegal by cashing them.

That way, if they turn out to be bogus checks, you were honest and upfront with them about it, so they will not suspect you of trying to scam them.

You can call a number, but they have no way of telling if the check is counterfeit or not by phone.

The bank manager may want a couple of days to investigate the matter. If they say it is real, then cash them. If it turns out they are counterfeit, or some type of scam, at least you are protected and know that you did the right thing.
