About 6 or 7 years ago I had a flawless buying and selling account going. Long story short I had sold an item that was "Damaged during shipment or I sold broken items" (Buyer claimed this 2 weeks after receiving the item). The shipment was not insured (my fault with no doubt) and I had already withdrew the money I believe with the virtual credit card generator they used to have, and never had the funds to cover it. Buyer won the claim and was refunded his $600ish payment. I was clueless how PayPal worked and made multiple accounts over the years that ALWAYS got linked. Even my wife and parents names are burned on PayPal due to linking because I was clueless about using the same address. Till this day the get linked to that original account. In this email from PayPal today for the first time they told me how much was exactly owed. I am wondering if I pay this debt if I can safely use eBay/PayPal again with no issues.

My needs for eBay and PayPal are just to sell sports cards on and off of eBay at the moment. I am currently in possession of my good friends eBay buyer account pre 11/07. He gave me 100% permission to use this and said if he ever needed something on eBay he would just ask me to get it for him. Considering he only used it 8 times in 3 1/2 years, he has no need for it. I am explaining this because I know using friends info is frowned upon. Just wondering what my best option is for me. I currently have a GreenDot prepaid card that I received in the mail, it is in my name but I believe I can use the account to add a bank acct to paypal. Anything is appreciated here. If you haven't purchased the ebay stealth guide i recommend you do because after reading your story, i haven't seen 1 step mentioned in the stealth guide that would prevent you from getting linked.

You are about to burn your friends' account as well. You really DO need the guide.

As to the other part of your question, NO, it is not going to be a simple matter of paying the balance and all being forgiven.

eBay knows two things about you at this point:

1) You left them holding the bag, so to speak, previously.
2) You attempted to create new accounts in violation of the user agreement.

Therefore, you represent an unacceptable risk to eBay and their users.
