Multiple Legitimate ebay accounts in one name

Hello everyone,

So I had an account a year ago, was selling VERO, bla bla bla, I got banned from ebay. My stupid mistake.

Then a few months ago, I created an account through a friend selling completely LEGITIMATE items. Got verified through PayPal, etc. Everything is going smoothly. However, during the Christmas rush, I got a bit behind on shipping, and due to a relatively high number of customer disputes, ebay has now rated the seller account as "below standard performance". Which means lowered search standing in the search results, and man it HURTS! And unfortunately, at the rate I'm selling items, it's going to be about 4 months before I'm able to recoup from those disputes and get rated "above average performance" again.

Now, I know that you are allowed to have up to 8 ebay accounts, all attached to the same paypal account. So, I would like for my friend to simply open up another account and to start selling under that. However, I have a few questions about that first.

1) Will ebay rate the new account as "below standard performance" as well automatically? I really would like to have this new account be more of a "clean slate". Can anyone provide any insight on this? There isn't too much information out there about multiple accounts in one name, for this situation.

2) Perhaps less importantly; on the current account, I have a seller limit of $15K/month. With the new account, will there be a new, separate seller limit? Or will the two accounts have a joint seller limit of $15K/month? Or perhaps something else?

3) Also, does anyone know if opening up another account raises any red flags with ebay? There have already been some "close calls" and I want to try to avoid ebay's watchful gaze if possible. Thanks for any help!

** I know that you guys will probably give me the advice to just create a stealth account and start over, but this account is 100% legitimate and I'm going to make sure it stays that way, so I'd rather not go through the whole stealth process if I don't have to. Of course, all advice is appreciated, but please try to focus on my specific scenario. **

EDIT: Sorry, one more question. Is there anything I need to do in PayPal before creating a second eBay account, or anything unexpected that may happen if I open another account that I should know about? Trying to tip-toe as much as possible here, I'm sure you guys understand.

If your account is at risk of being suspended then I suggest you don't drop selling on the account and get it back to average standing. If the account can take the hits then you can let it cool.

As long as the new account is created with exactly the same details (Remember, in this case you want eBay to link the accounts) so as you don't get stuck with ridiculous limits. (Even if you do, call them and tell them you already have an account and your selling a different type of item and don't want to mix on the same account)

You just need a new email address, add it in PayPal and then your good to go!

Almost the same exact thing happened to me!!

Their help section does specifically state:

If your account doesn't meet the standards, you:
- Need to resolve all issues on the account before buying or selling with other accounts
- Can't register for a new account
- Can't use an existing eBay account to avoid buying and selling limits or other policy consequences

So I am concerned about setting up a new account now. It would have been better to be working multiple legit accounts before this and never let any of them get hit with "below average" performance. I'm in the same boat here so any advice you all can give us is great.
