Default Auction listing questions.... please read one you could learn something from this....

Ok heres my current situation. I was given an account from a good friend of mines about 4 months ago. This account had 40 feedback which half was for selling minor video games some some high dollar items as well. The account was opened in 2001 so it has alot of time under its belt.

I had asked on the forums prior if i could just go off and start selling like a mad man since the account is legit and since it is 10 years old. I was told no way and to take it slow. So here i am now.

Its going on 4 months since the first item sold. I have got nothing but positive feedbacks about 50 of them and now i'm at 90 or so feedback with a DSR rating of 4.9, 4.9 5.0 and 4.9. This is in 4 months. I have sold about 10,000 worth of stuff in that 4 months and have never had a limit on the account. I was just taking it real slow. No calls from E Bay pr PP the only thing i get is emails that say i'm doing great or emails that state that they want me to sell more.

Now my question is, Do you guys think i'm in the free and clear already? There is no limits on my account, all i get is emails like this one " Wow Seller check out your sales record", OR Sell more on E bay are you doing great." No one from E bay has ever called or emailed and i'm about to get powerseller status. I just need some clarification. I'm NOT selling XXXX and all i'm selling is auto parts.

Right now i have about 30 auctions up which total 5000.00 up at one time. This is the most that i have had up. I have been really selling 3-4 things weekly or something like that. I would like to bump it up. Any advise would be greatly appreicated.

Do i still need to go slow and if so till when?

You are doing fine. I have the same emails coming from ebay all the time. You have a good account that they suspect nothing with. Just keep your customers happy, If they complain kiss their ***. That account is gold to you now. Time has ntohing to do with it. I did that with a new account several times now. Its what you sell and how you sell it that matters.

All I can say is keep it up and start to list as you please. If you feel you are still Leary call them up and say you would like to up it a bit and tell them you wanted to ask them if there was anything stopping you from doing so. They will tell you .

I did that and they just asked if I was planning on more than a certain amount in a 10day period. It was so high I just said I wish. They then said well if you do need to up it just let us know and we will have no problem.

I dont know what the deal is. Some of the feedback is from buying stuff. I'm working on getting it all selling feedback.

Kingray- Thanks man. I really like reading your posts and actually did wish you replied. You think i'm in the clear? I was planning to take it slow still yet. Till i get to the 6 month mark. I usually take in 40k a month on ebay when all was good. I need to build it up there again.

What are some of the signs that you use to tell you are in the clear? I'm going to list alittle more each and every week. Nothing too crazy just something that gets me positive feedback and some good money at the same time. The rest will come when i know for sure that i'm a top rater seller, and that ebay has 100% trust in me.

I do everything in my power to keep a good feedback rating. I kiss there ass so much its not even funny. I send them a email right after the auction ends, when i get payment, and when the item ships. They must think i'm crazy LOL.

I would call them but i'm terrified that they will look into my account if i do. Nothing to hide but just dont want the extra attention if you know what i mean. ( fricken e bay has tormented my thinking).

One last thing. When can i change my registration address on e bay? I hate using my friends real info and want the change it when i'm in the safe. please advise. thank you!

All you need is a 90 day old account, $3,000 in sales and over 100 feedback. Just can't have a sh!t ton of cases opened against you or 1s and 2s on your DSRs.

yeah i dont have 100 feedback yet. I guess i'll be there soon. How much is alot of sales in e bays eyes a month? Is 5000.00 considered a high amount a month in sales?? Right now ive done about 2-3 k a month. Would like to bump it up to 5k or even more but dont want to raise any red flags. Please advise. thank you!

Do you guys think i'm in the clear for sure now? I'm still going to take it slow but i would like to get alittle feeling on my situation. What do you guys think?

I've never seen a problem with it. All it does is help save on listing fees if you have many, many items.

If it were me and you have been gliding along with no limits, etc. I would just start listing more and get that up to 5k like you want. If they have a problem they will more than likely email you and ask if that is going to be something you are going to keep up. just say I will if the buyers are there.

I would however make sure you are upgraded to a business account. I would personally never run that much through a personal account. You may have already dont that though. I dont know.

As for the address thing? If you are changing it in paypal as well I would just do it. Do like I do. I call them and do it over the phone. that way I can tell right then and there if there is any issue. I am a worry wart though and it would kill me to wait on an email for a problem.

There shouldnt be any issue with the address since people move all the time. Especially if its one you have access to.

Sound like you got it figured out.

I have just opened up a store. I do have a business account already as my friend opened it up as a business account over 10 years ago. So i should be all good there. I have 85 feedback now and all positive. I just sold about 2k worth of stuff in the last 3 days. I feel like i'm in the clear. can anyone verify this? i'm used to doing 40k a month in sales. I would like to get there ASAP. Is there anything else i can do to speed up the process? Thanks guys!!

If you are going to jump that much call them and just ask them if there is anything keeping you from upping your sales to what you think they will be.

Just say something like. "my local shop is about to be shut down due to low sales so I would like to move my inventory onto ebay. do you see anything that would be a problem so I dont run into anything by surprise? "

They are nice when you talk nice to them in my experience. When you have great sales and high volume the go out of their way to congratulate you.. They do to me. I always talk to them. Kind of feeling them out usually though to see what I can get away with.

Really, dont be afraid to call them. I fyou call them and ask questions, they dont grill you for info to match theirs. Thats when you did something wrong. This isnt that kind of call. They will offer you all kinds of things like business consultations, lowered tickets to the ebay live, etc. I have heard them all.

Quick update on my situation.

OK i'm doing really good now. Nothing wrong with the account nothing. My friend got some calls from ebay when they changed some rules and what not and he just answered and said ok. Right on. Hes got my back.

OK i just jumped up from 5k a month to 10k a month. this is actually my first attempt to sell 10k a month and when i listed all 10k worth of stuff one time nothing happened. They all sold and i have got all the money. Always kept 200 or so in my PP account to follow the rules of stealth. I listed up to items that were over 1300.00 and they sold with no problems. Got good feedback for them too and i know that must be a plus. I had up to 50 listings up there all ranging from 50.00 - 1300.00

I have over 120 positive feedback now, all dsr's are at 4.9 or higher. Soon i will be a powerseller according to my dash board. I'm waiting till then before i do any more than 10k a month. I'm happy with that for now. Do you think i can go more?

So my question is, am i in the clear now? What do you think ebay thinks of my account?
Thanks in advance.

you can't be afraid of it forever, so call them and make it clear if there are any restrictions for you. this way you can save yourself from possible issues and be sure you're safe. if something wrong has ever been done with this account they will find out sooner or later anyway. if it's okay, you will get rid of such a headache, if it's not okay you will start again. if it's not you will have to anyway.
