Default If YOU were offered $40 to change your negative to a positive feedback...

(Hi - New to the forum but I've been reading it lots for the past couple of months. I've got a question that I thought I should ask here for the best responses)

As a buyer, would you revise your negative to a positive feedback if offered $40 by the seller?

- YES - or - NO - ?

Situation: You're unhappy with the product for whatever reason. You paid $300 but the ad specifies that "No Returns Accepted". So you leave me a negative feedback saying "Terrible seller, don't ever buy" etc..

However, I communicate with you in a timely manner, sincerely apologize for whatever the problem is, and without hesitation I let you return it for a refund.

Then I ask you: "If you could kindly change your negative feedback to a positive one that says just 'Thanks' ..that's it, then I will absolutely reimburse you for the return shipping costs AND give you an additional $40 for any inconveniences caused."

Would you do it?

----
I'm just asking this in general. Hopefully you won't be skeptical of it, but I seriously would give you the $40 and money for return shipping after you'd change it.

Glad you said 'general' terms.

Far too risky a proposal.

Buyers renege on promises.

Could only be considered on a careful analysis of each account.

Seller would have serious issues to need to entertain such a refund, imo.

Most accounts should never be in such a position for this to be considered in the first instance.

Sounds kind of shady....are you the buyer or seller? If your the buyer.....do not take the $$. You were honest with the item.... But if your the seller, are you seriously that desperate?

Just my 2 cents

And how does it sound shady? The buyer has nothing to lose, just $40 to gain

I would gladly accept your 40 bucks and change the feedback! Some buyers take feedback waaay too serious.

I can see if you got ripped off somehow and the seller was rude or ignored you and leaving negative is your only option.

But if the seller tried their best to help you out, cut the person a break!

Geez! These lazy buyers are having things shipped to their doorstep across country while they sit around and watch Honey Boo Boo and eat Cheetos, and then will have the nerve to leave you a negative because it took 5 days to arrive instead of 4 and the package didn't have a strawberry scratch & sniff sticker on it.

I think some buyers expect the seller to ring their door bell and sing em a song while they hand deliver their zebra print Snuggie on a golden tray surrounded by rose petals.

userofnames - I hope you realize that i'm the seller in this case. And it's just a "in general" question. Didin't happen...yet (and hopefully it won't) But this is something I WOULD do if I got a negative.

Wait until you get in that position before avowing to do something.

Bribery backfires.

Re-read my 1st reply. It's a case by case, account by account decision.

Are you going to tell me you would give a buyer $40 to revise feedback if same buyer had done that before?

I wanna buy off you too

Many buyers would also happily report you to EB for feedback manipulation. You really need to look at this from every angle. Dozens of buyers aren't just going to simply fall in love you with for a measly $40 bribe. They still did not get what they originally wanted and that's how they will see it, especially when you are playing with items that cost $300+.

Trust me they wouldn't buy off me again; i'd block them.

And on second thought, i don't know how to take your responses and opinions on this since i realized that most of you are sellers and people who know the in & outs of eBay very well.
