Default FREE Shipping issues with USA seller & USA Address

I bought a few items from a seller on ebay.com (USA)
ALL of them stated Free Shipping!!

The seller is now charging me for shipping???
I have explained to him/her that all of the listings quoted free shipping,
so how can she now charge me shipping.
She replied ''sorry the parcel is to heavy''

I would like to add that i was sending it to my USA shipping address (before anyone states im in the UK )

I feel against paying for these items now, because of principal of the whole free shipping!

they cannot do that, its just a way of them to attract more sales. take it further and against them i say. if its too heavy they shouldv thought about it before putting down free shipping

Just because he won't ship it, doesn't mean you'll get it for the price you want. Although I don't condone those actions... this is the classic bait and switch. You have every right a refund.
You have to ultimately decide if you want the item for the total cost. You're only required to pay the final bid amount, if it says free shipping in the listing. Pay that, when he doesn't ship, he'll get an item not delivered dispute opened. (which you'll do)

since ebay updated their checkout system, i am unable to edit the shipping amount, so you have to pay what is on the invoice, unless the seller changes it.

Correct me if I'm wrong... if the listing says free shipping, and it says free shipping on the main picture, and it's emphasized again above the final bid amount after the listing is over, you just pay that amount because you're the final bidder.... right?

It's been a few days since I've bought something, maybe I'm wrong.

I'd contact customer service via the chat, and explain the situation.

ebay customer service will side with you, I'm sure of it. (as long as it states in the listing shipping is free) there's really no discussion there... in other words, you have the power in the negotiation with the seller

To clear the air, when sending invoices - as a seller, you CAN add in a shipping cost (even if your shipping states free shipping) and you can also add in "extra charges" at the bottom. Whether it is an additional charge OR a discount from the total amount. All of it is able to be edited with the EXCEPTION of the winning bid price.

What it sounds like is they tacked on a shipping cost in the box and sent that invoice. You have to pay what is on the invoice....I would talk to ebay about it because if you don't pay, he files a NPB on you. So something's not right.

Report the seller as they lured you with free shipping and then wrongfully charged you.

If seller changes the terms then it is not a valid contract hence you can back out legally.

This is one of those few times when the buyer, not the seller, is getting pinched. Time to chat with ebay on this.

Had the same thing recently, messaged seller and told them to cancel auction if they are changing the terms. They sent a cancel no problem.

Wow... I guess that shows you the last time I had to contact support.

Well, worth a phone call then. Better do it before he opens a claim for non payment.

You dont have to pay the invoice like that - you can contact eB as wrongful charge on free shipping - not a smart move by the seller

explain that you will leave bad feedback and let them know you will be contacting ebay. Should fix the problem.

If not, and you're still worried about it, just pay for it and refuse shipment. That'll teach the seller to try and get over. Anytime I get screwed over by a seller, which is rare, but does happen, I pay for it and just refuse it. Open a case, get your money back and leave bad feedback. I hate to do people wrong, but every once in a while you come across a real jerk.

Note: Don't ever threaten through ebay messages, alway's be polite. Ebay reviews message history if it ever gets to a case.
