Activity: 0% Longevity: 98% | | Why Are Sellers Allowed to Charge More After the Auction Has Ended?
I recently won something on ebay and when I went to checkout it said paypal was unable to process my payment. I'm guessing I have to wait 24 hours or something since the amount is over $200. I had no issues paying for a $4.00 item in my cart. Anyway, after waiting nearly 24 hours I saw that the seller added an additional charge to the total which was not there previously. How does Ebay allow this? What recourse do I have? The additional amount is only a few dollars but it's the damn principle. I did not agree to pay this. I won the auction for a specific price and that's the only price I should have to pay.

The seller is not allowed to do this, Tell him you will be contacting ebay about his extra charge. Ebay frowns upon this!
He has obviously added on his packaging charges but that should be already included in the postage amount.

Was shipping marked down as calculated???? Which means that's where additional cost came or was there a flat cost?

No, this was not a sales tax charge, and things like that should be in the original checkout. This was simply tacked on as a new charge.
Btw, it's been more than 24 hours since the auction ended and I still can't pay. Eba/paypal is still giving the same message. POS

Perhaps ask the seller if there is something wrong with his paypal account?
Either that or your accounts possibly about to go under review

Contact the seller seems like the best answer tbh. May be a mistake on their part.

That's what I plan on doing, but in the meantime I can't even pay him because ebay won't allow me. As for the review, I bought over $500 worth of stuff in the last 4 days so this might be the cause, but like I said before I can still purchase other products and my account has not been restricted in any way. I can't imagine why there would be a review. They would clearly see that I'm the same person because I am using the same flash cookies, same home address, and same ip address as always.

You want to be careful.
A seller can send a revised invoice.
Usually they should contact you to let you know. But if you have not paid, a revised invoice could be created. warning ebay link http://pages.ebay.com/help/pay/checkout-invoices.html

It's like winning an auction for a penny with free shipping, and the seller turns around and tacks on a $20 because he wants more for the item and you have no choice but to pay.

Ask the Seller what the Extra Charges are about, then Decide if you are going to pay them or Not, If you decide not to pay then decide if you want to give the seller the opportunity to end the transaction amicably by sending you a transaction cancellation form, or if you want to "go to the whip" and open as case, in the resolution center,,,

Update: It seems that this particular auction is the only one that I can't seem to checkout with. Everything I put in my cart checksout fine, except this.

I talked to the seller and that was his idea of having me pay for his paypal fees or something. He eventually relented and let it go, but I have no idea how he was able to impose an extra charge onto the invoice without any option for me to simply ignore it. As for paypal not letting the payment go through, apparently, this was all on me, although I don't understand why I could pay other sellers, but just not him. This must be paypal being paypal, as usual. Maybe PP wanted me to call them so they could pull a fast one on me.
Rsot, I didn't mark anything.
