Post The Vanilla VCC confusion

I did look around before making this thread just to make sure that it is not a duplicate.. it may seem like it, but there aren't many to clear on what we should be purchasing out there for VCC

I know many of the people on the site recommend us getting from approved sellers on the forum, but for some reason i just want to get one stealth account up and running on my own !

Anyways, I read and saw many posting about the Vanilla visa's not working.

Then i saw somebody else saying only the $25-$500 ones work.

Then someone saying the silver ones work not the gold vanilla visa

So i just want to know as of today, is a vanilla visa from Walmart or CVS going to work for me... if so which one should i purchase?

MM78 posted an image of a $25 card.

I use that value card too.

No issues.

There are 3 versions of the Vanilla Visa card which some ppl get confused about.

Here are the differences from their website.

https://www.onevanilla.com/onevanilla/about.html

The picture on the front of the card will vary. Some might have that cute purple box that MM78 mentioned, others will be gold in color. As long as you get the Vanilla Gift card, you should be fine.

Just make sure you DO NOT purchase the reloadable card. Those are GPR's (General Purpose Reloadable) card, and those require you register your REAL information & SSN. From the link above, you can see they are FDIC insured up to $250K, usable at ATMS, etc...and are considered bank cards.

You need special services like Square to swipe the card and cashout

and just for the UK folks, it looks exactly the same and is available for us too in £25 (£27.95 at the till) and £50 values.

And here is what they look like...

This was in my local Sainsburys store.

The $15 (3 Pack) are not Vanilla Cards. I've posted a pic of these cards all over the forum.

For sure, once you verify the paypal you can do whatever you want with the card. I personally use Square to put the money back into my bank account.

Sqaure can be picky.

If they see you using one gift card after another they will shut you down.

Do not use for tiny amounts either.

I made all the mistakes one can make doing this and learned the hard way to ONLY use the Vanilla gift cards exclusively, I made the mistake of trying to use a Rush card and now have handful of the useless things. They refused a transfer for name difference as we all know is the down side for them.

Thanks rsot, I never thought to get the funds back from Square. I have had Square since they started for Craigs List sales.

I wonder how many SandyD thinks would draw attention? I would never use more than 4 or 5 a month and I think that would be prudent.
