Default Being shafted by ebay Seller

I bought an item from an eBay seller and collected it in person and paid cash (it was only £1) - The Unpaid Item Assistant has now opened a case against me - what is the best way around it please (it is asking for the £1 plus £14 postage).

If you already have the item, let them issue an unpaid item strike against you.

So long as you don't do it a lot, nothing will happen to you.

Thing is, the case details say Case Opened By Unpaid Item Assistant.

I would like to know if it has been opened by an ebay bot OR the seller has opened it ?

Some sellers program their listings this way.

Why the curiousity?

Best way to find out is to ask the seller...

Simply because the seller went out of their way to be awkward and didn't want to sell it to me for the price I won it at.

However, the case has just been closed so I guess the seller must have closed it.

The email says :

Thanks for your payment. The unpaid item case for (item name) has been closed, and an unpaid item won't be recorded on your account.

Theres an ebay bot which can be switched on and ebay prefer sellers to do this but i prefer to do this manually for the very reason that you have encountered! Just email the seller but looks like they have already jumped on the case for you.

How petty. Avoid that seller again.

I have found that if you use the seller manager, this feature is automatic. I had it go off twice recently, but both times it was because the buyer hadn't actually paid. I got payments from both right afterwards. However, in the past I have cancelled them as we resolved via invoice and just messaged the buyer about the confusion.

It's automatic so I don't think it was the sellers intention by any means, especially when he quickly closed the case.
