I always call in, but have any pertinent info needed at my fingertips, DOB, address, CC#, all the info you need. Also act REALLY nice and being naive also helps big time. I always try to pump up the reps ego a little, because in the end if you get a good rep it will take 5 minutes and be easy (sometimes no questions asked if you play your cards right), and if you get a bad rep well, it can get sideways on you real quick.

1 Created Paypal verified with CC and Bank ACC(VBA to be exact)
2 Created Ebay Account linked the PP
3 Browsed Ebay for 2 weeks
4 Then I tried to list on the 3rd week. The listing was successful but couple Hrs later Mc99.
I registered my address as a Florida state address, buT my Ip shows texas could that be the problem.
Also I listed some pens I bought from staples starting the bid at 1.99

Just call them and have your information handy.
In my experience, when this happens, names/address should have matched and they want to make sure there is no connection.
I have been denied 2, and passed 2 times during such calls. My 2 accounts that passed are doing very well with miserable limits.

I don't think its because of your IP address. Most people are going through this. Is it possible that the name and address could be found in a phone book or public directory?

This is the original MC999 and very easy to get reinstated with a call.
The OP said the email stated a call was necessary to verify the account or something along those lines, so this is just an easy call in have all info ready and all the questions are standard for this:
What are u selling?
Is the item in your possession ?
Is anyone helping with the account?
And so on.....
The original and easy MC999 seems to be given out because of all the info in a thousand threads I won't get into but what I just discovered is you will receive this and need to verify the account when :
The account is created and left alone for several weeks.
I usually create my account and list and sell that first item right away and than let the account sit for few weeks before going back
However the last couple days of February I created two stealth accounts and left them dormant until a week ago
I created 2 stealths : 2 sets of eBay / paypal accounts and that was it , never linked them or sold anything
Than a week ago I basically linked the eBay with the corresponding paypal account received the 4 digit code from eBay and listed my first item, and did this with both accounts
And I received the original MC999 on both within an hour after listing, it was strange because I haven't received an MC999 when opening a new account in at least a year , once I learned how to make an account properly I never needed to call in again
So I'm guessing because everything else was in order it was due to the accounts being created and than left dormant
I guess it's always good to set them as sellers right away and sell that first item, the way I left the accounts could of made them look like they were created and than left alone and possibly restarted by a different owner , and that's what triggered the call in. Which was a 2 min easy MC999 luckily

Your first item should never be anything brand new period.
List a used book or household item first.
3 weeks does not matter, if you list something brand new like this 9 out of 10 times the bot will pick it up and send the mc999.
Nothing new, name brand, vero, electronics, cell phones, high priced etc.

LOl dude you know what you are talking about
thats same thing the male rep said. The account was close for too long so he wanted to verify that no one had hijacked it.
He reinsated it without asking me any of the wonky questions that I see on here.
So in short this Mc99 is a verification protocol
I would love to know how to avoid it thou, waiting for a rep to answer the call was terrifying | |

That is the easy MC999 if you get one that is the one u want
There is another that the forum refers as the new MC999 that is a killer and if your limits go down to 0/0 and u get an MC999 saying to call in to raise limits than good luck, you normally need to fax in ID, UTILITY BILLS, ETC.. And even if u send everything they are tough on this one and usually will close the account
And there are threads ofer threads on this so I won't bore everyone, just use the search function and you can search for "New Mc999" and also the old or original MC999
And read everything u can on this lots in the forum using search and Yes you can avoid these

There have been times when I create an account, get 10/1000 limits, get MC999'ed. Call in, they tell me my account is going to be reinstated and absolutely nothing happens..
I really wish eBay agents would keep their word. Have them do it over the phone so you don't stay on hold too long. Calling in multiple times for a simple issue is complete BS.
