Default Having non Ebay Payments sent to stealth Paypal

I don't have another paypal set up for now, so I did some work for a client I have that isn't ebay or amazon related and had them send a payment to my stealth paypal.

It was a couple hundred dollars. I recently got a notice from paypal that said "Based on your recent activity, payments you receive from buyers will be in your pending balance and temporarily unavailable. This money will be moved to your available balance and released to you in 21 days (as long as there are no problems with your orders). Tip: See how to get your money faster."

I know this is usual for any paypal the 21 day rule but the whole "based on your recent activity" thing alarmed me. Now my problem is that they only sent this after I got my payment. And I tried to attach a bank account last night and paypal said the feature is unavailable.

I don't want to try again and set off red flags. How should I play this?

And how do you guys usually recieve payments for non ebay related services? Some people specify not to say its a gift or whatever. I just told the guy to send it.

standard message, standard error. no worries!

try adding the bank from another browser

in regards to receiving payments on new accounts - its best to invest the $2-3 to buy a label, print it, and slap it on anything and drop it in the mail to show you sent something.

stay away from gift payments

I tried in two different browsers and it keeps saying "Sorry, we are not able to process your request. Please try again later."

I HAVE received non-eBay payments on a stealth account before. However, I had a valid bank account already attached and had previously used the account for eBay sales. My volume of payments on that account was also relatively low.

PayPal DOES allow you to receive payments for items you sell on websites, as long as you do not violate their TOS and prohibited items policy. If I needed to do this, I would probably set up a dummy website for something and ask buyers to route the payments through my website, although that can get dicey as well.

There are SO MANY options to receive non-eBay payments besides PayPal - why would you not want to use Google Wallet, Dwolla, Squareup, etc.?

I've never used any other option before. And the client is comfortable with paypal.

I think im going to wait out the 21 days, for the funds to finish being reviewed and try again or call. If that doesn't work I'll just have the guy refund it. And just let the account burn and withdraw the funds later.
