Default Oh, they do make me giggle

A buyer opened a Return case. eBay gave the buyer until July 15th (yesterday) to send the item back. If they didn't, then the case closes and I don't refund them.

The funds were held for about a month while I waited for the return to arrive, all the while emailing the buyer to chase it up. No responses.

I tell eBay this morning that they still haven't returned the item and could the case be closed in my favour please.

The case was closed about an hour ago with eBay refunding the buyer!

My funds had been released so, yay, but I was unclear if they were still going to take the refund out of my PayPal balance or if, shock horror, eBay is parting with its own money and funding the refund themselves.

I ask for clarification. I get a girl(or a guy?) called Eden on chat.

After a few attempts at getting them to actually look at my case, this is a copy/paste of how the end if the conversation went:-

ME
The funds that were held have been released to me and I'm told I do not need to do anything else, But I would like to know if eBay are planning on refunding the buyer by using the funds from my PayPal account. Or have eBay refunded the buyer on my behalf and I get to keep my money?

Eden
Allow me to look into this

Eden
Thanks for waiting

Eden
Buyer will get refund, but still your funds will be released for you.

ME
Ok, thank you. I'm glad I get to keep my funds so I won't argue or appeal this. But may I quickly ask how it is fair that the buyer gets to keep the item and gets their money back? All because they were too lazy to return it to me?

Eden
It's been a pleasure speaking with you today. Thanks for using eBay.

Lol, I used to save some of the chat conversations I had with them, I was intending to make a website one day of their stupidity and 'customer services'
