Default A to Z claim settled in my favour no further action -stunned!

As above had an A to Z, first one I have ever had, 'cos item was quite delicate, courier service delivered it with box bashed, item instead not actually damaged at all. Buyer contacted me saying box condition made it impossible to give it as a gift, I said I would refund. Before I got chance to Amazon refunded and said no further action required by me as they have refunded already and consider the case closed. Not exactly what I was expecting.

Buyer had messaged me that I should have packaged the item better, and that Amazon always put items in extra strong cardboard product boxes, so they would survive delivery intact. She implied that I had just put the box inside a plastic bag. In reality the plastic bag was completely covered in sticky packaging tape which gave extra support to the package. She had said that the box was so knocked about that she could not give it as a gift. Anyway, cool result for me!

So in other words, a cheapskate going to reuse the package to post the item, now has to find another box to despatch it......
Oh what a pity LOL! Hard life being a whinger

A reasonable opinion would be that it depends if the box was mentioned in advert or picture, eg boxed, otherwise it is just a box for packing and made to take the knocks and no more...

The picture on Amazon did show the box oompa, I guess Amazon did agree that the box was well enough packaged to withstand knocks that could be foreseen by sellers and buyers when using courier deliveries, no more and no less.

Actually I did put in a claim with the courier company, DHL in this case through Parcel2go, because I did not take out their full insurance cover I just got part of the cost back, better than nothing!
