A VAT number alone can bring up details of the registered company however are Ebay cross referencing to ensure both details match?? An answer to this would be a guess so err on the the side of caution
Your more liking to be linked if you use the same VAT on numerous accounts.
The vat no will be from a company registred in my real name which has been banned in eBay before. So is there a chance they check the vat no you supply and then use that to trace your real details ?
So technically it will be two accounts, one of which has been banned before so Ebay will hold that number against a suspended account - there is a link here - whether they check this I don't know for sure but looking at how dlligent they are in other areas they probably do
The old banned account never had the vat no used. The new account does not have it either but as I'm close to the vat limit I'm thinking of registering for vat no
By not using it on the account and just putting it through to the accountant is fine but what's this new rules rules for eBay, they say they do not charge vat on fees? And your fees invoice is net vat.
Also customers buying from me if vat registred won't be able to claim vat back of my no is not on the eBay invoice

I went VAT registered this year, I have two stealth eBay accounts and I don't have my VAT number on either of them. Accountant doesn't seem bothered by it and I just pay the relevant VAT on my sales. I sell small consumer products so the only way I could see this being an issue is if you sold to businesses who needed to see you VAT number but you can just send them an invoice with the product I suppose.
