Default This guy must be a scammer, right?

My sister is selling an eBay item for £60 starting price. Someone contacts her for a buy it now deal and she replies with an offer of £70. They then say they can offer £140 - double the amount she suggested! - and she just has to give them her Paypal address or they can give theirs.
Obviously there's some kind of scam going on here - no-one would voluntarily offer to pay far more than the seller asks - but what do you think it is?

There was a thread about this a few weeks back. This happens to me once a week atleast, and has been for the past decade I have trading online!!!

It's such a waste of time, they will simply send you phishing email to the PayPal email, which looks exactly like the PayPal email when you receive payment, except it will say... PayPal is holding funds until the recipient receives the goods ....

A load of tosh! Ignore it and move on.

Play is correct. You will receive a phake email saying payment has been made.

That's how it usually works. There are different variations bit that's the most common
