Flash Cookies - Alternative for Deletion

I noticed that adobe had added a page addressing this concern which I guess is growing for other privacy issues that ebay (obviously)

Adobe - Flash Player : Settings Manager - Website Storage Settings panel

as an alternative to using 'objection' or if you are on another browser this seems to let you clear them with a quick click.

I am posting this in VIP but maybe should be elsewhere, just not sure where.... feel free to report elsewhere

The settings manager, yes I use that when I need to clear flash objects.

But lately I have been using different user accounts per eBay account and haven't had to worry about flash objects.

I agree with aspkin, that's probably the best way to do it.

I also believe eBay is now able to see the username on your computer when you log in, but that is something to be investigated.

I believe you dont have to delete your cookies or worry about flash objects at all as long as you use different user accounts. I think deleting your cookies too often will flag your account as well.

Yeah different user is the best way to go :thumb:

mcweed234 03-18-2009 11:12 PM

for stealth its the only way to go, if you have more than one account then you would have to delete your cookies every time you logged in and that would definitely raise red flags

Isn't it true that the latest version of CCleaner is also able to delete flash cookies? I tried it on my computer and it seems to work alright.

Lyda 03-20-2009 01:02 PM

But why would you when you can have different window users for each account and not worry about any kind of cookies? Ebay wants them, so let them have it.......:hail:

I run many accs and have run out of user accounts on my pc, Ive got 10 users, so I am having to double or triple up and take the risk, ok so far...

I have IE to use flash player on eg. youtube and all other stuff, but solely use firefox for email and ebay/paypal, and I dont have flash player loaded on it and I think this means I am ok for flash objects when logging in, as nothing is stored at all, however ebay never recognises my pc when I want to revise a listing and phones me, which is a nuisance, so I avoid that.

Lyda 03-20-2009 01:31 PM

Good point Oompaloompa if you have more than 10 account! I have 4 accounts only, using only 2 at the moment..I did not know there is only 10 limit on window users..but was wondering about that for people who have sooo many Ebay accounts. I figured the icons must be getting smaller or something.... to squeeze all of them on one screen...But for me, 10 is plenty!

i just created 12 windows user accounts (T1....T12) to test what you said plus the guest account and my main account after reading your post.
my windows XP let me create them as many as i want i think.

lakeman 03-20-2009 03:59 PM

Oompaloompa, how many accounts do you actively sell on?

oompaloompa 03-21-2009 03:22 AM

there isnt a limit, but as you say the icons get smaller and slow down the pc
I have 21 accs so far

Cachufleta 03-23-2009 01:54 PM

Did anyone desciphered what is the full content of the ebay flash cookie? I mean besides of matching UID/IP

WHAT other information is stored in the flash cookie of our computer?

If they are able to read specific info about the computer, then no matter how many windows-id and separate flash/cookies you use, they will link you ...
