In a paypal pickle

:yar: Just logged into a PP accoutn :typing: and it wants me to verify my address as I "have received large amounts of money during the past 12 months"

They are sending a 6 digit code to some random address I made up.

It says I have 2 weeks before it arrives. :boom:

I can do everything normally on the account eg send/receive/withdraw, but im guessing this is all going to change after 2 weeks when PP realise I ahvent put in their 6 digit code. The account has a lot of money in it.

So i was wondering what should I do? This hasnt happened to me before so im a bit confused. Any suggestions??...

Hmmmm... I would work on getting this money out ASAP since you are probably looking at 180 days and than they will send you a check for the money you have to bogus address, so you will never see it.
Why did you leave that much money in PP at the first place? Maybe you can call them and say you moved in the meantime but forgot to update the account....? Just be ready than they will ask you hundreds of other ways to confirm your identity... Is the name on this account also ⊗⊗⊗⊗ name? Please give us more details.....People will be able to help you better.....
Anyway you can maybe refund this money to your buyers and ask them to pay you different ways?

And you say you can withdraw? Just do it than, and do it fast!

i had the same problem last year
what i did was wait a week and enter any number a few times where you have to enter the code.
and it will say code confirmation failed or something and there will be a line going through code confrimation.
then i rang paypal and told them that i have put the wrong code in and it won't let me type it again and they asked me a few questions and they removed the limitation.

i don't know if this will work for you

GreenBean 03-22-2009 06:45 PM

ebay, that can work. Wait the days, try that. Then the sobbing call to
paypal about the code.:tears:

ebay 03-22-2009 07:08 PM

i've tried it a few times and it has always worked for me

boondoggle 03-22-2009 08:20 PM

Works everytime

:hail: Clever lot.;)

Any account should have an address that is accessible;)

oompaloompa 03-23-2009 07:03 AM

Do paypal ask for actual code over the phone, when you call and say you cant input it?
I agree you need an accessable address, but some of us dont have one for all accounts, Is the moving trick best to use? what address can you use if you dont have a legit address, do they send another slip to the next address you tell them?
we ought to delete or move this thread, no? this trick will filter to paypal otherwise..

lakeman 03-23-2009 07:49 AM

I was wondering that also, Do they send the slip to the next address you say you moved to?'

I agree, what's posted here is usually patched soon after.

Even PO Box is better than bogus address when it comes to PayPal. It will cost you $27 every 6 months, but its worth it if you are making money on Ebay. Look at it as business expense and save yourself headaches.

ebay 03-23-2009 11:40 AM

you can use po box address in uk paypal
i don't think

yes, you can, you make it look like a flat number instead of pobox, the only downside is cost, and also many other ebayers will use that building, street, postcode, so of course, if they are banned, your account can come under scrutiny for using some of the same details.

ebay 03-23-2009 11:52 AM

yes i have heard they are quite expensive in the uk

cortex 03-23-2009 03:21 PM

some good info here people. I also agree this should be moved to a more private area of the forum..

GreenBean 03-23-2009 05:36 PM

It was moved as soon as oompappa suggested.;)

Just a suggestion as you are subscribers, post your questions here. Keeps everything tight.;)
