ebay phone call

wondering what happens if you ignore ebay's phone calls when they want to verify new seller accounts first listings. do they email or just limit right off the bat? Curious because I've verified a few accounts with payphones that probably won't get answered. do they generally call soon or days later?

ebaykilla 03-27-2009 02:52 PM

they only call randomly or if you are posting expensive items. they usually call within hours. i would suggest getting something other than payphones as a working phone.

doughboykilla 03-27-2009 05:09 PM

i had a few of these calls about 6 months ago on radom accounts that i started listing on i ingored the calls and only one time did i get banned for it for abuseing ebay but other then that nothing happened. I always return the call to make it look like i really missed the call and it gets a auto message telling me that it was just a random check and no futher action was needed.

GreenBean 03-27-2009 05:14 PM

Bend, as ebaykilla said it is better to have a working phone if ebay decides to contact you. That at least is one extra aid to keeping the account

RobFagles 03-27-2009 05:16 PM

I've had this experience when selling iPhones, no matter how old the account is.

If you miss the call, you will be suspended if it is a high-risk item.

doughboykilla 03-27-2009 05:21 PM

iPhones just that word raise's red flags all over ebay with them china iPhone knockoffs that are begin sold.

Usely its best to list stuff thats not such a high risk till u get some good feedback then you wont have to worry about any phone calls most the time.

lakeman 03-27-2009 05:22 PM

I once missed the call on an account selling items no higher then $20 and lost it because of "abusing Ebay".

RobFagles 03-27-2009 06:55 PM

Agreed with lakeman. Miss any phone call within a few hours after listing and you are suspended.

doughboykilla 03-27-2009 07:19 PM

Yeah its best to answare the call if your good at lieing and answares the legimentcy ?'s that they ask u they will put you on the spot.

Me i just rather make a new account and try to answare all the ?'s that a rep has to ask and i missed there calls before and only once did i get banned. The calls comes at random i list same things on all my accounts and only few ever got calls. I noticed it happens at certin times of the day as well at certin dates

Wish you had spell-check, doughboy

What I can not understand is why many are NOT keeeping a phone number going, having ALL their details at hand and be aware that ebay might call.
If anyone is selling on ebay, it is a business and a business should be run correctly. Run it correctly and the only new accounts that need to be made are more to make more money for you.:peace:

lakeman 03-27-2009 07:50 PM

That's a good point GreenBean, I don't know either why people won't spend the $10 a month for a prepaid phone or some forwarding service online. I look at it as an expense to run my Ebay "Business"

Does anyone know if eBay employees work on Sundays?

That is really silly question RobFagles, sorry! Can you buy groceries on Sunday or can you travel on Sundays? See what I mean....:peace::peace:

GreenBean 03-27-2009 08:53 PM

^^^Hehe. There are living breathing ebay staff who work Sundays. ('Cuse me 'cos i can't call them humans;)) Their wonderful bots work overtime on Sundays as well. ebay never shuts.:suspicious:

I have had a lot of phone calls from Ebay over t he past 6 months, but some allow me the option of answering
security questions instead of getting the call to give me the automatic Pin # they give.
