Not sure about Canada, but in the USA, EVERY bank is required to have a RESIDENTIAL address on file due to the PATRIOT ACT.

Except That I am legal US resident
US DL, Address, SSN, Green Card and all that jazz.

and it's funny that B0fA gave me zero grief - they took my stealth address no problem.

Then the bank has to comply.

BoA is technically breaking the law if they accepted a PO BOX as your address.

In Canada, it's the same - people need to register with a RESIDENTIAL address but (and I think it works the same way in the US), once they have a residential address on file, you can have the bank send you any statements and marketing materials to a po box address - I do this for few of my Canadian banks and a US bank now.

I am sure that is correct but BofA did not seem to care...

It's an oversight.

I certainly wouldn't bring it up.

I'm just saying, you can't be angry about a bank following what the Fed says...

They're just letting you off easy for now, but they WILL care about it sooner or later down the road.

Banks operates with much stricter regulations than companies like Paypal. They are legally REQUIRED by federal laws to verify your identities to prevent money laundering and other acts of fraud. Trying to avoid ID verification with banks is like trying to juggle jerry cans of gasoline while you're standing in a fire pit: you'll burn yourself no matter what.

As a reminder for what I've mentioned in your "PO Box Requires ID" thread, if the VeRO owners and law enforcement really want to go after you, they WILL find you no matter how you try to hide your real identity.
