Is this feedback manipulation.

I am trying to build up my feedback score on my new stealth account I am selling a bunch of toys and sporting goods at below cost but I have several buyers that have "sniffed" me out so to speak so they are bidding on all my items.
So I added them to my blocked list today - I am OK to do this?:noidea:

Your approach is correct, I do not understand why you have blocklisted your potential buyers.

Re: Is this feedback manipulation.

Feedback manipulation is when you sell items around the dollar mark, or when you buy services which leave you feedback - in other words the outright obvious things to manipulate your feedback score.

Selling at below cost level etc. won't be deemed as feedback manipulation.

If you sell 10 items to 1 person then they leave you 10 feedbacks - your feed back score = 1
If you sell 10 items to 10 DIFFERENT buyers and get 10 feedbacks your feedback score = 10
If I am buying items and selling them below my cost to build up my feedback scenario 1 not so hot

Re: Is this feedback manipulation.

I've sold about 40 items all under $1.00
the other 10 have been under $5.00
I guess I misunderstood the instructions as selling something cheap
FWIW I have sold all item as actions items

Use the settings to limit how much a person can buy from you in a certain time span.

it's a crap shoot .... for a lot of things I think I think if have auction listings that sell for less than a buck eBay simply is not going to care a lot and you are probably going to fly under the radar until you reach a certain dollar threshold

This is true except for the first statement - IF the 1 person leaves 1 feedback per week, then all the 10 feedbacks can count as separate. Some buyers know about this...

Re: Is this feedback manipulation.

cool I did not know that I thought they were not counted only one feedback per eBay ID.
At any rate 2 months 80 items sold 25 feedbacks it slow going - it was even worse until I sent our a bunch of email begging for feedback.
Then again my original account had about 5000 feedbacks over 16 years for 40,000 transactions.

Feedback can be slow to get...too true but time will build the account up. Tough to hear about the original account loss but get multiple accounts working

Re: Is this feedback manipulation.

I dont worry about feedback really. It come naturally and not everyone wants to buy from a big seller. Also on the cheaper items i doubt a large percentage of buyers even notice feedback.

I would not loose money and time selling stuff just for feedback. Takes the same amount of effort to make a profit as it does to incur a loss.

Re: Is this feedback manipulation.

I think you are right I bought a stealth account and started to sell low dollar items to start to build an account. That account is 2 moths old now
I started another account myself with a 10/1000 limit I sold 10 items @ about $800 total the first month yes even selling a couple electronic items @ $300 each
zero problems at all
The ONLY problem is that competitors seeing your old items back up on eBay that is going to be a problem....
eBay hasn't gotten the time to deal with new sellers that are honest.
- where new accounts get into trouble other sellers reporting you.
having serval accounts for sure is great strategy....

Good approach modernman with several accounts...

Re: Is this feedback manipulation.

You can change the setting so people can only bid or win one item. Its in the settings I can't remember where. If you are trying to build an account that is the best way to go. Personally even on my aged account I don't like re-sellers unless I know them.

To edit my response it is in the block buyer requirements. You can set it to "Block Buyers who are currently winning or have bought "XX" of items in the past 10 days. If its a new account and you are losing money don't be afraid to set it at "1". If it is someone you trust or want to sell to you can always add them to your exemption list.

It's not feedback manipulation at all. All you're doing is heading off problems that may happen in the future. It's good business practices.

Yeah I don't think that's manipulation.

Re: Is this feedback manipulation.

You can changed your settings to allow only 1 purchase per buyer...

Put in the listing "Clearance 1 per customer"...

This has worked for me and nobody was confused why they couldn't buy more as its in the listing.
