PayPal 21 day hold trick dead?

Of course I know not to speak of the trick but just tried it twice with no luck. Guess its dead.

Burst 04-09-2009 04:27 AM

Youre not doing it right

GreenBean 04-09-2009 04:31 AM

^^^Maybe, maybe not :pout:

topadog 04-09-2009 05:31 AM

You are correct my Aussie friend. I think Paypal is catching on. IT systems are difficult to update and it will simply take a while for all PayPal's networks in all countries to be updated to correct the flaw.

For instance, if they are smart, they will correct the flaw first in the United States. Since this is where the majority of money is flowing through eBay/PayPal, it makes financial sense for them to correct the "trick" here first.

They might not even bother updating their IT systems in smaller countries, where the quicker release of the 21 day hold does not really affect their pocketbook.

Heard of people doing this and doing it yourself are two different items. These things change daily. Likewise, just because it worked last week, does not support that it will work today....

Tmeswon 04-09-2009 10:41 AM

Their are a few tricks i hope it is not the trick i use all the time, i will found out on Sunday thou.

NO ID 04-09-2009 10:58 AM

Has anyone else been having problems with the trick lately?

So far so good!

BRod1976 04-09-2009 11:14 AM

I used it yesterday too and it worked but at around midnight last night it didnt.

NO ID 04-09-2009 11:24 AM

Well I guess like TMILES said "these things change daily" - sounds like you know what you're doing so keep trying little by little and good luck my friend.

I rarely do this trick myself cause half of my payments get released instantly, and half dont on a brand new account and I just ....:brick:??

BRod1976 04-09-2009 11:40 AM

Well 3 for 3 on 3 different accounts. Lets have a moment of silence.................

Tmeswon 04-09-2009 11:44 AM

Are all of these new paypal accounts?

BRod1976 04-09-2009 11:48 AM

1 is about 3 months old and the other 2 are about 2 months. I have done it flawlessly though on them prior to midnight last night

Tmeswon 04-09-2009 11:50 AM

BRod this is terrible news, it had a good run thou

Like they say, 'anything in moderation won't hurt you'. :typing:

importracer150 04-09-2009 06:51 PM

Hes right the trick doesnt work anymore, just tried it today!!
Guys, think of somthing new.

king02 04-09-2009 07:03 PM

refund buyer and send them a regular paypal invoice

Snagga 04-09-2009 07:06 PM

ok, i just did the trick on new account. this was first payment it was under $30. After i did it, when i went to the tranction details it said this at the top of the page. PS i hadnt confirmed this account yet

Don't ship the item. We've completed the Payment Review and canceled the payment because it may not have been authorized by the PayPal account holder

GreenBean 04-09-2009 07:13 PM

^^^Not a really accurate test,Snagga. An unverified account will get payments stopped. If it was done with a verified account, then it is more accurate.
Regardless, this is sad,bad news.:pout:

Snagga 04-09-2009 07:19 PM

i relize this. i remembered in the middle of typing it. thats why i added it at the end.

Burst 04-09-2009 08:18 PM

Theres a more thought out way to handle the 21 day hold to make it not so suspicious and work everytime safely.

GreenBean 04-09-2009 08:27 PM

gurusgrafx 04-10-2009 10:52 AM

Yeah I have a new account 6 months old but just started using. first 2 payments in were held, tried the trick and no luck.

I did the refund payment and sent regular paypal invoices thing like king02 said when this 21 day hold thing first started before learning the trick . That account got limited after about 8 refunds for suspicious activity. So I'd be careful with doing that one too often.

x2ruff4u 04-10-2009 05:56 PM

Okay guys the trick is dead now. We need to move on, I already been having paypal troubles. Way to many actually. Eventually I knew this will happen so we need to move on.

I can confirm that the american paypal accounts get this. I tryed. Any other confirmations on any other country paypal's?

coolandcalm 04-11-2009 09:21 AM

I too can confirm that this glitch has been fixed by paypal, for US accounts. Gotta find some other work-around, payments stacking up now with these 21 day holds.

JamesYaBaoy 04-11-2009 09:39 AM

Say it aint so

coolandcalm 04-11-2009 09:45 AM

I can say it is so! Hope some other members here will share their experience as well

doughboykilla 04-11-2009 10:25 AM

Yea, That's how I found it.

Lyda 04-11-2009 02:43 PM

Well, since it's dead now, maybe we can all talk about it openly? Maybe people can start by how they found it, how it worked for them or didn't work? I see that both, refund and change email thingy was mentioned in this thread already, so which one is it that does not work any more, or is it both?

There is still another way I ran into on internet, but I didn't work it correctly so there still may be at least one way around? I hope.....:noidea:

Snagga 04-11-2009 04:24 PM

how does the email trick work?

coolandcalm 04-11-2009 06:00 PM

I think most people used the refund method....lyda it might be a good idea to discuss further in executive vip section.

GreenBean 04-11-2009 06:06 PM

Loose lips sink ships:eek:

RobFagles 04-11-2009 06:25 PM

Agreed with GreenBean.

Many people here have a method that still works.
