SSN Verification Algorithms
 

How are SSN verified? There must be different methods from number validation to ID verification. A persons name is not absolute as far as comparing it to SSN, names get abbreviated, mispelled, and the maiden name gets changed. A soft validation will compare it to the DOB which is a constant and easy to crunch. I've found publicly available validaters on gov sites that will compare the SSN and DOB, and give you a pass fail. I know the year, date range, and issuing location are hard coded into the number. Just kicking around the idea of generating a usable synthetic SSN.

I always wondered about that but then I've seen talk of underage people being able to add their ssn to paypal without problems. if that was true shouldn't theirs not work?

Do minors have a credit file? Maybe using a SSN and DOB below 18 would pass the check.

One victim of synthetic identity theft did notice what he thought was an "error" on his credit report. The credit report included an extra social security number, which was off from his own social security number by only one digit. It was accompanied by along a new address and a phone bill. Would a credit bureau grant credit with an incorrect social security number and still match it to a person's name? Apparently yes.

Maybe I could reuse my ssn by multiple times change the info slightly.

DOB is the main factor then, interesting. Any way one can generate a working one?

DOB cant be a factor.I have several PP accounts that dont even have a dob on file.

No faking SSN talk permitted guys.. come on.
