Paypal collections process

I have two questions about Paypal's collection process...

1. What do they do in the case of a Stealth account that is negative say $500-$1000? I am assuming eventually they will figure out the info is fony. Then do they try to figure out your real info or just accept a dead end?

2. What happens if an account in someone's real name stays negative for an extended period of time, say only for a couple hundred dollars. Do they keep trying to collect, file a lawsuit or what?

Thanks for any feedback on these matters.

They sell the account to a collections agency, IC Systems.

IC systems will then try to contact the user in the account dead or alive account. They can't do anything though. They call me and ask me for my social security number so they may file this to my credit. I just laugh and hang up. I owe 304 dollars to paypal.

From what I read, if it is in your real details and you live at address given, you may have to pay, an idea would be to fill a out a debt validation form and get them to go back to paypal to prove the debt is real, if they dont drop it for the hassle factor, they have to come back to you within 30 days or
hit dead end by law. This is only if they have real name and real address, if its real name and stealth address you should be ok.

If it is in stealth details, tell them to go ask their mother for it. There is absolutely nothing they can prove. Dont reply to emails and disconnect phone number.

yeah I do have a negative account in my real name and one time I decided to answer their call and asked them to send me something showing what I owed the money for which they said they could not do lol.

^^^Then they are lying. Most states in the USA have specific legislature that to make sure that collection agents 'prove' the onus of the debt.:fight:

I once owed negative $4,500 USD to Paypal. Never paid! It's been about 3 years ago since and nothing bad thank God happened.

was this in your real name or a stealth account?

Would it not depend on what the debt was for? Like if its down to loads of non-receipt disputes that would be fraud? and then PayPal would be able to report it as such. Then with possible police involvement even a Stealth account may not be able to protect your real identity. But then, for $500 would the authorities give a sh*t?

In my case they had all my real info including social that i input when i opened my paypal account and i left it in negative balance for around 3,000 and when phone calls came I asked ic systems if they had my soc. They said yes and even read it out to me. Being ignorant i still decided not to pay the negative balance. Later I wanted a credit increase from my bank and they denied it and they revealed that a dilequence in paying a balance was owed so i quickly paid the paypal balance and now the credit report shows that I have no open issues but it does still show thus it did hurt my credit report.

in short if you owe money to paypal and they have your real info, your credit can be affected if you dont pay...

Question guys: Im using my friends ebay account and stoped using it and all his info is real and just today got a phone call from ic systems... I dont want to risk his credit getting hurt so im about to pay, unless someone here knows that it cant get hurt with ebay. Im pretty sure its the same situation, but can you guys confirm

On a stealth account they can't do anything.

I did help a friend who was being chased by IC Systems for $4000.00+ over an eBay bill. Force them to validate the debt and they are screwed. They tried to get aggressive though and started violating all the debt collecting laws. Ended up having to sue them to get them to get lost. They actually settled up for $1500 to my friend! No joke. Love seeing the collection agencies have to pay. *******s.
