Taking over someone's PP/eBay account. What all will I need? Check my list...

My girlfriend's account that she no longer sells on...

Gonna leave accounts in their name... phone number also
Use their address
Probably add a new bank account of my own to their paypal(I dont think they have one attached... I have BoA)
Gonna create new user on PC
Gonna get 24vc VPN(fresh AND dedicated)
Gonna stay below 200/$20k so I don't mess with their taxes(for now)
Will eventually upgrade it to LLC, if possible.

Do I have all my bases covered?

I personally wouldn't use hers.. what if someone went astray? There have been times PayPal has refunded every order a seller has done.. What'd she do with the money she made from selling if she didn't have a bank acc attached? Either way, what if she uses the PayPal too and say it gets limited? If PayPal should call her is she fully aware of it all?

She's fully aware of it. I changed all the passwords and emails over to me a few years ago.

She no longer has access to the Paypal, so she can't use it.

Yes, her current number is still attached to account. We've used it to receive text verifications from Paypal recently.

As long as she never put her SSN or any other type of tax ID on the account, then this is the same as taking over an aged stealth account.

I'd make sure you do some browsing around on eBay once you're set up with your new user account and IP, so you can build some cookies. It's possible you'll run into problems by switching the account to a new browser and IP. They would be easy to get past though as long as you still have the original phone.

Her SSN is attached to it, but I don't plan on pushing it to the reporting limit just yet.

And when I do, can't I just change it all over to an LLC of my own when I'm ready?

No reasons? Just "don't use it"...?

Everything I've read on the forum, and in the stealth book, suggests that there would be nothing negative to come from me doing this.

What problems are you guys seeing?

Re: Taking over someone's PP/eBay account. What all will I need? Check my list...

Askpin members ALWAYS recommend against taking over an actual person's account - but they don't always give sound reasons. Most common reason given is that the account owner may want to sell again one day and would be unable to use their actual info if you get their account in trouble. Another common reason given is the income tax requirements/liabilities. I don't believe there's any way to remove a SSN from a Paypal account. So even if you never pass 200 annual sales there would still be a record of your girlfriend receiving money into her Paypal. I doubt that in and of itself would cause problems though.

Idk. I'm spit-balling trying to give a logical answer. I don't see anything wrong with your proposed setup but personally I would be more comfortable if I added my own EIN and upgraded the account to business before starting to sell. That way if you do accidentally pass 200 sales the 1099 will have your tax ID and not your GF's.

Re: Taking over someone's PP/eBay account. What all will I need? Check my list...

Thanks for the reply!

I'd like to at least run some small money through it(starting with low-risk, like a new account), to make sure it's gonna work, before I burn an EIN on it. And I would most definitely upgrade it to business way before 200 sales. Probably after 50-100, just to make sure it looks like it might work.

It's an older account, but only has around 30-50 feedback. I'd just like to use it because everything is legit on it. And I don't have to procure another address and phone for it.

You missed the point of the thread apparently. He didn't ask if it's "safe" for him to use someone else's account. He was asking if he's taken all the necessary precautions to take over this account without any interruptions or limitations.

If a member gives me a solid reason that it's going to fail, I wouldn't do it. But so far, including you, no one has.

If the relationship end she can screw you over pretty good...

That's solid reason for me. However, that aside it seems you have taken appropriate steps.

Very true!

I'll probably end up eventually taking over her phone number, as well, to use soley for the account. Then she wouldn't really even have a way to prove it's her account... I don't guess, since I would be in possession of everything used to verify identities.

Oh wow... your second non-helpful post! So, thanks again... I guess!

I'll make a decision based on the weight of the risks, and so far the only negative I'm seeing is if we break up and she decides to sabotage the account.

But please feel free to add some value to the discussion at any time!

You obviously didn't read any of the post above yours.....it's all helpful post, your post was actually a waste of peoples time, want to know why? Because your going to do what you first intended to do, you just wanted someone to agree with you. I've seen your type of post on here about 10,000 times and every time it ends the same, the OP does what they first intended to do without actually considering the advice given.

You think your the first person to ask this type of question? Daily we see the, "Gonna open an account in my Mom's, Dad, Uncle, Kid, Great Grandma whose dead" and so on.

Re: Taking over someone's PP/eBay account. What all will I need? Check my list...

No, you're wrong. I haven't committed to anything yet. And I won't, if someone brings up a valid point that I can't address. (except a break-up)

And so far, you don't seem to be an exception to this. Even after 3 replies.

I don't want people agreeing with me. I want people to pick out the flaws with my plan, so that I can see if they're avoidable. If not, I'll ditch the plan.

Answer such as "dont, "no", and "you're dumb" are all useless and unhelpful because no one learns from vague "help" like that. And it's also how misinformation gets spread like the gospel.
