Add new name to business paypal account

I have a business paypal account, and it asks for SSN. Now one of my relatives agree for me to use his. But how can I add his name to my business account so I can provide his SSN???

I saw in this forum that someone did this. Please help.

We need more information. Is your business legally registered as a U.S. business? Is it a corporation? A partnership? A sole proprietorship? Do you have an EIN yet?

This is a US account. It is made up. Not registered in US at all. I thought this could make me feel safer.

When I registered one premier account in US, I cannot get a SSN, so I feel unsafe, and I choose to upgrade the account. NOw, one of my relatives agree to give me his SSN. I hope I could use it on this business account. Otherwise, i will create a premier account from scratch.

Well, to add him to a business account, you have to be a U.S. Registered business. I'm not referring to the Paypal status. I mean corporate or business filed with a state in the U.S.

Otherwise, Paypal will consider you an individual and you would have to have your own SS# at some point. In your name.

Or you can have him make an ebay and paypal account in his name. If anything goes very wrong, he would be responsible.

Vicve. I am not familiar with all this stuff. Is it possible to open up a Buisness account in the US with paypal and NEVER have to give them an SS#?

GreenBean 06-19-2009 06:56 PM

^^^Stealthy, this is an interesting question. There is no 100% way to know if paypal would turn around and ask for the SSN of a principal with an EIN formed business account. Read post 8 in this thread:
http://www.aspkin.com/forums/subscri...html#post78617

The 'potential' is there for paypal to think of doing that. nb I am saying 'potential'. To avoid that the (paypal) account would need to run smoothly. That said, paypal may still give trouble.:peace:

Greanbean. thank you but I am still not distiguishing if paypal in the past has asked other accounts set up as a buisness for the principles ssn#?

Is it possible to open up a Buisness account in the US with paypal and NEVER have to give them an SS#?

or have/can they ask for ss#?

GreenBean 06-20-2009 12:55 AM

^^^ Yes, I have been told by x2 persons NOT on this forum that had EIN
AND then got asked for an SSN. I personally saw the email from paypal.
I discussed this with another party and the thought was that an EIN will in some cases delay the request for SSN. Depending on how the account goes, it may be never requested but there is a chance. If an EIN was supplied & then a SSN requested I would be MOST unhappy & request an exemption. Many factors involved of course ;)

Per #8

At some point, you are likely to be asked for an SSN, even with EIN on file. Legally, you can refuse/decline/defer (however you wish to phrase it). You would be fully within your right to do so. Your success will depend on your courtesy and professionalism.

Having the EIN absolutely DELAYS the request. Any improvement is better than none at all. So far, I can confirm that at least one person has been going strong for over 2 years on just the EIN. There is no way to know if a request for SS# might come tomorrow or never.

Legal issue: Corporation is a legal term which represents an organization gaining all rights and privileges of a living body. The corporation becomes an individual entity of its own, under law. That is where the EIN comes in. It is the corporate SS#. Thus, by federal law, supplying the EIN for a corporation and not providing an individual SS# would be proper. It would be best to avoid having to litigate, of course.

PP asking for individual SS# for a corporation is equivalent to them asking you to purposefully provide the SS# for somebody else. Your SS# belongs to you, not the corporation, and thus it would be inappropriate for them to ask.

^^Correct. As vicvelcro says how EVERYTHING is handled will determine
things. Simple, really ;) :peace:
