Reusing Burned Bank Account
 

Not too far back I got one of my paypal accounts limited and there was a checking account attached. I thought this checking account was burned, but I decided to call up my bank and ask them to change my account number/routing number because I suspected some fraud. They did, so once I got the new account and routing numbers I proceed to attach it to a different paypal. It works fine, i'm able to withdraw with no problems. My question is will this cause issues down the line? Can paypal tell this is the same account or with the new numbers is it impossible?

New numbers, new account as far as PP is concerned. You're good to go.

Thanks guys! This seems like a good way to recycle bank accounts rather than shutting them down and reopening

Whenever I have bank accounts "changed" it was explained to me by the bank teller that there is no "changing" account numbers. They can only change an account and replace it with a new one.

PayPal wont be able to see anything, but if you do do that time and time again then the bank can and do start to think there is something wrong and you can run into a lot more issues.

OP's teller probably closed the old account, opened a new one, and linked OP's old debit card to the new checking account. Easy process for a banker.

Smart way to get fresh account #. Some bankers can be stubborn and refuse to help as I have experienced at some branches - simply stating "fraud" concern is a good method though. Don't overdo it though, this may raise some flags. As others said, spread it out.

That's what I did a long time ago and it works wonders, saves the trouble of opening a new acc, etc.

They basically just close the account and open a new one as described above. I have done similar. Just told them I lost my checkbook or debit card depending on which I need changed,

I have debit cards on 1st pp, checking on 2nd pp and savings on 3rd pp. No linking on pp end of it.
