Gift2Go and all prepaid cards dead?
 

Is this true? I haven't been on in a while and just read it in a couple of different threads yet the means to an end list hasn't been updated. I was thinking about getting one this weekend to lift the withdrawal limits on a Paypal acccount.

I guess no one wants to say?

Maybe the delay is due to there being some disagreement about which are dead and which aren't. One thing we're seeing is that one person can say 'it didn't work, it's dead' and then an hour or a day later somebody well respected may come along and say 'I just did it myself, so-an-so is full of mallarkey!' Perhaps in the case of the first report, the problem wasn't the card, but instead due to eye dee ten tea issues.

NO more prepaid cards for eBay, but some VCC still works! I use gift2go cards to lift my limits on paypal!

Are you saying some VCC still works for ebay? Or are you saying some still work for PP?

Please, people. When discussing cards, don't refer to ebay and PP interchangeable. Talk specifically about ebay and paypal in separate and clearly specific sentences. Or separate posts even.

We've already learned that some cards which no longer work on ebay will still work on PP. So let's don't confuse the issues.

I just tried to open an account with Gift2Go and I can confirm that Gift2Go does not work. I don't know about others, there has to be some that still work.

I tried to open a new stealth account with Gift2Go on paypal and paypal would not accept it, so instead I used the debit card linked to the bank account that I have for the account. But yeah, Gift2Go definitely was not working for me when creating a new account. Perhaps it can be used to lift limits, but creating entirely new accounts it was not working here in the USA.

I just used the Gift2go yellow $30 card to meet one of the requirements of opening an eBay store. eBay charged $1.00 on the card. No problem whatsoever.

This is true with most cards...but not all! Some gift cards work for ebay.

No the card was not registered. This is my first time doing this, sorry I did not know you could register gift cards. News to me! I will try to create another account within the next few days with the registered gift card and I will post back if the gift2go credit card worked or not.

Yeah, you gotta register it with an address for it to work. I haven't tried it on Paypal so I can't vouch for that. I used a bank account to verify on Paypal.

I tried it on ebay to verfiy id even after it was registerd and it said you cant use giftcard to verfiy your id on ebay.

Could it be that a different system is used to verify eBay ID as opposed to opening an eBay store?

How much money was on the card?

$30 and i tried both ebay and half.com but never tried to open a ebay store

I only have $30 as well on my card as well, but I will certainly report my "royal findings" as soon as I create the new account. It may be a few more days because I have one more thing to do for this new account (in bank account regards) so bare with me here guys. I'll make sure to post back the Gift2Go card's status as soon as I create the new account.

In the past I have always opened and verified a paypal account first before opening the ebay account. Prepaid cards and the bank account was always required on paypal and never a problem. Because I attached my paypal to ebay, I never had to verify a credit card on ebay. Since pre-paid cards seem to be dead with ebay, does anyone know if you must verify with a credit card in Canada now on ebay? In Canada, debit/credit cards from your bank are not the norm. It is just a credit card and harder to get so bypassing that step would make it much easier.

Well I just tried a new one and it isn't working, a message comes up saying to contact the card issuer as to why. I'm hoping it's cause I only just bought it about an hour ago so will try again later. Not good though wish I had known a definitely answer to this earlier.

Any updates for this thread? Seems a bunch of peopel said they'd report back... then never did. lol

Well heres something for yall. If you really want to try to get it for ebay. 1 out of 4 simon giftcards will work. I suppose it might be strange, but I tryed it. Thats when I had no reason for them. 3 denied 1 worked.

Thats odd i know that when amex was working for pp like 1 out of 8 cards would never work for me kinda like your exprince.

2 Questions:

When did you purchase these 4 Simon cards?

What's the expire month and year on the worked one?

Were the first 4 digits on each card the same? Or were the digits on the card that worked different than the 3 cards which failed?

I find that with the cards I use there is a denial of the card for ebay verification via PP, if I do not allow the PP to breathe for awhile prior to creating a seller account. If I back off, let it rest for a bit...it will work.:pop2:

So your saying if i have a older paypal account then i could use cards such as amex which no longer works on paypal.

I got some month old paypals i will try to use a amex and see if it works still
