question regarding flash cookies ?

just a quick question regarding ebay flash cookies guys.

even through i only have 1 ebay account i have been deleting the flash cookes nearly everytime i close my brouser.

been doing this for about 2 months now.

you may ask why i did this it is because i heard flash cookes track where you go what websites what names you use etc and dont want ebay knowing which sites i been to so i deleted them.

had a email off ebay today saying someone hacked my ebay account and emailed other ebay members? i checked my account and i did not notice anyone emaling other people through my account?? so not sure what ebay was doing?

my question is do you think they thought it was hacked because i keep deleting flash cookies??

my account is ok now just want some advice for the future.

I think you need to block flash entirely, before you ever let it on your system OR you need to stop deleting it once it is there.

Suppose I run a site. I want cookies on your box for 'security'. You let them in but then nuke them. My system is going to notice this and I'm going to wonder why somebody safe would do such a thing. I'd figure the odds on you were poor, and want you to go away.

On the other hand, if my system sees that you NEVER get the cookies, I might assume you are savvy enough to block them and I may respect your good judgement. Or I may assume that your system doesn't support flash or has a bug which doesn't handle flash properly.

You are better off not letting it in the door than you are if you let it in and kick it out ad nauseum.

I have no problem with flash cookies.. I have my Ebay accounts on AOL dial up and let them have all the flash cookies they want. I do my everyday stuff on another computer...

Yep. All good there.

What I was hoping to clear up for some people is that flash is not a big deal as long as you don't let it mix. Have it or don't have it. But if you have it, keep it and keep it separate.

I dont have it, it is one headache I dont have to deal with BUT it means reverifying phone number if you need to list, thats why auctiva ( and other listers ) WAS good to avoid logging in, now its charging for it
