I got a similar error trying to run OS X on VMware, except for me my host doesn't support vt-x.

Looks like you just need to enable vt-x.

Glad you got it sorted.
Just curious, why do you prefer VM over user accounts?
It would seem to me that User accounts are faster, (depending on your tools, setup and configuration) more comfortable to manage, cheaper and have far fewer requirements than the VMs.

VM's are a lot faster than user accounts. When I'm working during the day I usually keep 4 VM's powered on at once so switching between accounts is as easy as clicking a new tab. I use a 2010 era Windows 7 laptop I got for free. VMWare + OS ISO's aren't hard to find for free.

First time I did this few years ago I had 10 vps one per account got high, this time going to use VMware with vps because I plan on doing Amazon ,eBay and AdWords accounts and want as little chance as possible of things being leaked . Also as stated above VMware is quicker like flipping through browser tabs

In 2010, laptops typically came in 4GB memory. A computer with 8GB would have been a high-end laptop at the time.
A windows seven instance on VM with eBay opened in a browser uses about 4GB memory, and that's with no packages (e.g. MS Word) loaded. To optimally run 4 VMs concurrently, you would need 20GB. 16GB for the VMs and 4GB for the host.

Even if your system had 8GB of memory - it would still be quite slow compared to another computer with 4GB of memory running 20 stealths accounts via windows user accounts.

You may feel you're saving time switching VM by just clicking tabs, but the tradeoff is that all clicks/actions you take are subject to 4GB of available memory for that VM instance. If you're a medium / large seller, the loss in time could easily translate to 10 minutes or more per account each session.

Many users here may operate more than four stealth account daily. Using your computer most optimally to meet your stealth needs is a crucial step in managing multiple accounts.

I have previously compared VMs vs User accounts in this thread here

I'm happy to concede on the basis that people use VMs for stealth because "it floats their boat."
But if the facts are considered, then I would say (in my opinion) it hasn't stood up to scrutiny. It demands significant resources to run properly and even more so to back-up. It is not as fast, convenient or exceedingly more secure than a good old user account.

It's nowhere near as bad as you're making it out to be, Pandora. For starters I don't use resource intensive OS's on my VM's since I'm using a decade old laptop.

My laptop is upgraded to an SSD + 16GB RAM which helps tremendously with VM's.

All VM's are Win XP with 512MB RAM dedicated to them + 1 processor core. I don't even use half of my system resources when running 4 at once as I do. Nothing lags. I can comfortably have the stamps.com software, Vuze, MS Word/Excel, my VM's, and Photoshop running concurrently.

I messed around with user accounts when I first started out - so I do have experience with both methods. I was a big fan of VMWare before stealth so I guess it's just what I prefer.

NOTE : 8.1 is on TPB.

I just install VMware on my mac laptop with these steps, got an error:
1. Select the Installation Method: Create a custom virtual machine
2. Windows XP professional
3. Choose a virtual disk option: Create a new virtual disk
4. Finish
Could not open/dev/vmmon: Broken pipe
Failed to initlaize monitor device
Anyone knows how to fix this? Thank you.

Are you using an ISO of XP for the installation?
