Hey everyone,
I have a new paypal account which I verified - its just about 2-3 weeks old. Haven't used it to sell or anything, but I had a phone forwarding service which didnt work - and I put that as my ph#. Apparently paypal tried to call or verify it, and it didnt work, so I got hit with a limited account and they want me to verify my address. I didn't change the ph# in time, so i can't verify via a new phone - they mailed a letter to my address (not real, it is a Burger King) and also say I can verify via a credit card or proof of address. I have a Simon Mall visa card which is verified on there - what other card do they want??

Get a new account and keep a working phone# on file for some time if you can.

You should be able to send them a utility bill with your address on it that was used for the paypal account. Give paypal a call with your new phone number and ask if they can add that phone number to your paypal account.

There is about $100 in the account - a donation I would like to not make to paypal. The address I used is not valid, does anyone have a scanned image of a bill, and I can change the contact information on it? My hatred for paypal is growing daily...

Paypal won't get it. You'll get them all back after 180 days. Paypal only gets a tiny interest from it.

I can't get the check if the address is not mine though. It is ⊗⊗⊗⊗, a burger king, with an invalid name too. So I just totally lost $100, because in 180 days they'll mail a check to a burger king..and they can't even cash it...am I supposed to go explain to a burger king manager that they should be waiting for a check from paypal under a woman's name? lol.

No one else has faced this issue?

after 180 days, you can add another bank account number to it then withdraw.

I might first try to take my sprint bill and photoshop the name/address - I assume they don't check it that closely as long as it doesnt look like a 5yr old changed it?

Anyone know why its asking for a credit card though, after I added a VISA and confirmed it??

some paypal employees are lazy, they just follow instructions in their huge knowledge bases and do some copy paste work. it's quicker to get things done to make themselves look good in the team. that's why many people's been asked to prove the things that's already proved.

Has this changed again? In the past 6 weeks it has not been possible to add a bank account as you suggest.

Outdated info(#7) needs update. I haven't test this method for some time.

According to seven other people, adding another bank acct after 180 days does not work any more.

I always wonder why people are so hasty to close a bank account used for Paypal just because an account gets limited. Hell, you have 180 days to do whatever... There's NO RUSH to do anything at all. You have TIME. And you NEED the account to remain active so you can get yer loot.

Somebody care to explain to me in any sensible way why it is that people panic and think closing a bank account immediately is supposed to cure anything and what it is supposed to cure? WTF?!? (100x).

Anyhow, you can put a significant effort into rescuing this $100 (if it takes more than an hour of your time, you're losing money by wasting the time). Just get a card associated to the address for Burger King and punch it into the resolution center. Expect some other prob to arise, though. It happens.

If you choose to send a utility bill, make sure it LOOKS like a fax, not a PS'd screenshot in hi-res.

Next time, use phones and addresses that are VIABLE. If your pal was the boss at Burger King, it would have made some kind of sense.

Got a simple cell phone bill and made some changes...account got restored this morning. Thanks everyone!
