| DogFacedBoy | 08-25-2009 10:19 PM | A new one on me Started a new account about an hour ago, put one item on, got a confirmation email and about 30 minutes later I got an email from ebay. WTF??? Do any of us use anything other than false contact information?
MC150 FIP NOTICE: eBay Registration Suspension - False Contact Information
Your eBay account has been suspended because of a violation of the eBay False or Missing Contact Information policy.
***About the eBay False or Missing Contact Information Policy***
eBay members aren't permitted to use false contact information when registering on eBay. This includes registering with a fax number, incorrect mailing address, or disconnected phone number.
For more information about this policy, please go to: False or Missing Contact Information
During your suspension, you can't use eBay in any way, including registering a new account or using an additional existing account. If you owe any seller fees, eBay will charge them to your current billing method.
To have your account considered for reinstatement, please reply to this email. We will then contact you with a brief list of requirements that you'll need to take care of before we can consider reinstating your account.
Thank you for your understanding.
Sincerely,
eBay Trust & Safety team
I did get 4 different automated phone calls and entered the 4 digit codes before it eventually took...They called with the code , I entered it
I got an error message and then the phone rang again. this happened a total of 4 times.
Is there anything I can do to save this account? The item I put on had 19 pictures and was a vehicle so they have the VIN and I am 99% sure that if I start a new account and try to sell the same vehicle it will be linked by the VIN |
| webguy | 08-25-2009 10:29 PM | It could just be something simple that you can easily correct, but as you know getting a response from eBay will take time.
I would email them asap asking what the problem is. You won't know if it can be saved until you find out what they want from you. |
| GreenBean | 08-25-2009 10:34 PM | ebay has been hostile towards new sellers. Their reasons for the suspensions are aggressive. Stand your ground, claim innocence and ask for help....it is probably going to be OK :peace: |
| DogFacedBoy | 08-25-2009 10:42 PM | They did say in the email to respond directly to it. So tomorrow when my head is clear I'll give it a try. If not I'll just start over.
Damn all of these unused minutes on disposable cell phones |
| Hottest_eBay_Goddess | 08-26-2009 02:33 AM | Please keep this thread updated. |
| Burst | 08-26-2009 09:08 AM | Also, Im just going to point this out. You say you just made the account. And your first listing was for a vehicle? Dont you think that would cause a lot of unwanted attention and could have sparked this whole issue? |
| imhungry114 | 08-26-2009 10:58 AM | Yeah listing a vehicle is probably not smart. Makes you look like a theif |
| DogFacedBoy | 08-27-2009 03:33 PM | I have put 3 or 4 vehicles on brand new accounts in the past without incident. Harder to defraud someone seeing as the VINs are listed in the auction listing and those can be tracked. It's cash at pickup so it's not as if someone can really get ripped off. Much easier to do when someone is expecting something to be shipped.
Also if the account was shutdown due to a high risk item I would think that it would have been suspended for "abusing ebay" or some other reason.
As I said in an earlier post, I think the problem was due to the phone verification which took 4 or 5 times (and 4 or 5 calls) of me entering the 4 digit PIN.
Now the friend is going to have someone else list the vehicle on their account. I can just see it. Once that VIN gets entered the other account will go poof for being "associated" |
| nobody999 | 08-29-2009 04:55 PM | keep us updated on what happens |
| DogFacedBoy | 09-17-2009 11:19 PM | Today, like three weeks after my original email to abay I get an email from them which starts out with: Dear eBay Member,
To remain active as an eBay member, you must have valid and up-to-date
contact information listed on your account at all times. It appears
that your address comes up as undeliverable.
To change your contact information or email address, follow these steps:
How can they tell with 30 minutes of creating the account and listing an item if an address is ubdeliverable?
I guess I will give adding a legit address a shot and see if it works.
There are certain things I sell on ebay that I know are going to get several accounts shut down a year so if this one lasts a few months that's a plus. |
| GreenBean | 09-17-2009 11:25 PM | 'Cos the system did an AVS, it looked strange and so it got checked in a closer fashion (monkey) and they told you that. You were lucky not to get an MC0115, supply more ID:pout:
The days of the phony address are gone: with any listings these days the address has to 'exist' AND any user needs to have access to the address. |
Which is not a bad practice to start with, even on Stealth accounts. PO boxes, USPS boxes and Going Postal work for that. | | All times are GMT -5. The time now is 02:21 PM. | |
