Paypals new stupid 21 day hold has just opened up doors for nigerian scamers
 

I sold a item on ebay first in a very long time and as soon as the auction ended they started emailing me so i invoice them through ccnow to pay via paypal so i checked my gmail and wot i got was a email (or what looked like a darn good replica email)from ebay and paypal telling me i was paid $250 for a item that sold for $98 and it was safe to ship my items as the funds would be released as soon as the tracking # was submited to paypal. Then i got a email asking if i could send the cell phone to the girls daughter in nigria :laugh: and the buyer has 38+ feedback so and member sence 02 and no sigins of begin a scammer artist! But lucky for me i know all about these type of scams but think of all the others out there all the buyer has to do is win the item use a doctered up email of paypal and ebay telling the buyers its safe to ship then email it to the people and they ship the item thinking the money is waiting in paypal but in reality theres not a dime in there paypal account.

Gose to show the idiots at paypal trying to protect there own ass's by holding funds thus causeing alot of unknowing chaps to get cheated out of item and money such as the old bidpay method did.

Those types of emails have been used for awhile. Theyre VERY convincing. Good thing you checked the account first. Nigeria ALWAYS is a scam. ALWAYS.

Think about if these scammers where US based it would be much more effective cause if it was'nt for word Ship To Nigeria i would'nt had thought nothing of it. And probly would had shipped to another US address thinking it was the person daughter as they so claimed.

I knew these scams was used with WU and Bidpay but didnt know they where useing it through ebay/paypals 21 day hold system.

i recently received an email asking me to ship to an address in another state, he said his friend lives in that state and will ship the item to nigeria. my radar went up, but i told him as long as his friend wires the money or sends a postal money order to me, i'll ship the item to his friend in that state.

There have been scams with postal orders and wire transfers.... just be aware of that. Look at the cost of the item to make the final decision :peace:
