How far away are your stealth addresses?
 

hi guys
just wondering with your multiple stealth accounts, how far away you have each account.
I mean just say for example you are located in london, would you have all your different addresses based around london, so that it dosent look suspicious that your ip dosent match your postcode?

if not, how far do you actually go?

All within the same city 90% of the time.

Mine are within 20 miles of eachother, like say I live in Chicago but I put it in a nerby city. They don't know.

^^ yes mine too, different time-zones, same continent though! make them properly distance doesnt matter - well until you hit all sorts of problems!! I dont like to think about that.....

Mine are all within the same city, one being right across the street from my actual address - this being the closest to me of them all

I've done most countries apart from the ones like Italy what need National identification numbers and that.

I try to keep the majority of my IPs within 20 miles of my 'alleged' geographic location. So my Chicago address has a reasonably Chicago IP and my Detroit address has a reasonably Detroit IP.

All in same city and zip code.

I think eBay only geo locates when fraud is involved. Any thoughts?

Or not even at all, does anyone travel outside of there own country on this forum. IP's arnt a big issue really, ive logged into my accounts on 15 different countries IPs the last 2 years and never had a prob.

My normal broadband ip at home is about 300 miles away, no vpn or anything.

I think it is IMPORTANT to note, that while IP address is definitely a factor eBay uses in linking your stealth accounts to banned accounts, it doesn't seem it is, or even could be, used as the PRIMARY factor for linking.

Since I've gone stealth, I've been pretty stringent about my IPs, and I don't login from work, the coffee shop, or anything like that. I do all my eBaying from my home, on my equipment, so that I can monitor/control as much as possible. While re-using a banned IP just to login to your account probably wouldn't link you based just on that, it could definitely be the "nail in the coffin" if eBay already has other factors linking you.

Think about it... normal people would login to eBay from work, the coffee shop, their mate's flat, etc., so eBay would have tons of legitimately upset users if they linked solely by IP.

I know back before my stealth days, I would login to my eBay account from maybe 5-6 different IP addresses daily, sometimes more if I was heavily traveling, and this didn't raise any flags.

Now, if you are saying your eBay account is located in New York, and your IP address is ALWAYS telling eBay that you come from China, that may very well give you issues.

Again, I'm just a guy on the Internet though, so YMMV! :typing:
