I just realized that I turn off my modem (I use Qwest) every night. I checked my ip address the other day and it said one thing and I just checked it now and it was a different address. So, my question is this. Since this happens, if I turn off cookies and DO NOT log into my ebay or paypal account in the morning, should I be able to simply make new accounts with this same cpu since each day I get a different ip address?

If you make different user accounts on your desktop you can do that and than you will not need to clear the cookies and all.

Since your IP changes like that you could do that. But as Lyda said making separate user accounts works as well. Work out exactly what you want to do, make a plan then we can tweak it with you.

You guys are awesome. Sorry about posting in the wrong place...thought this was the correct one. I did as suggested. I created a new user for my desktop. I also went out and purchased a cheap burn phone because I know you need to give phone numbers to ebay and paypal. I also created a new gmail account using the new desktop user id.

I'm going to create new paypal and ebay accounts using an address that my husband and I rent out that is currently vacant (and most likely will be for quite some time). I'll do that from the new desktop user id and with the burn phone I purchased. Then, tomorrow I'll go start a new bank account so I can link that to the new paypal account. This should work...correct?

I hope that one day I can learn enough to actually contribute here and help someone else out!.

All rightie!! I created the new ebay and paypal accounts yesterday and let them sit for a day. Today, I linked them for the payments to ebay. I am VERY careful NOT to log into my "other" ebay or paypal account while I am using the second user ID I created for the desktop. I even started my "first" auction today and checked it a few hours later. Ebay has welcomed their "new customer" with open arms!! This is AWESOME! I can't thank this forum enough for this!! Oohh...I feel so..."stealthy" and "covert". Many thanks, my master...grasshoppa will learn!

It's never like the first time!

I was wondering...when I start my cpu in the morning, I check the ip address. whichever ebay and paypal accounts (I also started a stealth Amazon account) I log into, I am careful not to log into my other ones even if I change my desktop user id. Am I being too careful, or will they catch me even if I change user id's on my desktop as long as the ip address is the same?

They go by the household.

For example, if I, my wife and two kids all have separate ebay accounts, separate user accounts on one computer, and my account goes down, they all go down. ebay doesn't allow you or anyone living in the same house to sell.

You cannot use the same ip for two accounts wich you do not want to be linked, regardless of what user you log in.

Hey no problem. There are always other methods to use to get around this of course. Like using information that is not yours....
