Dumb question: why Merchant account ?

if one already has paypal and google checkout account, why would an additional merchant account be helpful for online selling (eBay , or online store) ?

Sorry about this, I just couldn't get this straight, if paypal, google checkout already make way for online payment to my bank account, why would I need to pay monthly fee to get a merchant account ? Is this just for back up purpose ?

No payment holds.

No limitations which can happen even if you had already by passed one or two.

No more withdrawal stops when someone does a payment reversal, God I love those!

Buyers lose the power trip, they really dont bother you as much when they pay with a merchant credit card as they would with Paypal.

Less chance of getting screwed because there is a new policy every few months which gives more leverage allowing the buyer to get one over on you.

The fee's are less, also you can dump an eBay account every 2 months and avoid the high fee's.

I get my money in 24hrs.

If my eBay account gets suspended, all I do is get a new account and set up a new Auctiva/checkout and then add my payment key to receive payments any account or accounts I choose.

You can state in your auction NO PAYPAL!!! which is what I do. You can take credit cards without even having an 11/07 account this way.

Many other positive reasons.....

Thank you Aspkin because your methods have shown me the right way to beat these *******s finally after years of getting bent over.

Don't get addicted to paypal of google checkout. Google checkout was great when they first started, but they're starting to lose their way....

Everything bansheezone said is true. Merchant account is the way to go. Paypal was originallly intended to be a safe way to give out your credit card info for online shopping... although with modern credit card laws, no one really needs to be afraid anymore. When you start using a merchant, you'll notice less fees, less chargebacks, and you'll get your money faster.

My question to you, why would you risk your online endeavors in two other companies?
