Virgin Mobile prepaid phones...anyone tried them yet?
 

The local discount store where I get my disposable phones now has Virgin pre-paid phones for $15, but I am unclear on how many minutes come with (if any). They boast the you only pay on the days that you use them. Is anyone familiar with how the plans work as far as charges and if they work for verification purposes.

I use one, I didn't really pay attention to the prices. The main reason I use them is because you can change the number every 24 hrs. and they work with ebay and amazon.

But how much does it cost to change the numbers? Must have some idea.
Best deal I have found if you want to get some minutes with the phone is a NET10 that comes with 300 min for $20.
Minutes come in handy if you want to use it for selling stuff on craigslist too

It's free to change the number unless they didn't tell me, I've changed mine on their website many times no charges mentioned and they don't go by minutes they go by overall usage you just buy $10 top up card or use your credit card to add more usage.(text msg, internet, talk time, all combined)

Will these work with pay pal ?

They work as an active number for paypal, they don't work as a landline to confirm location though.

I have more then a few and let me tell you, they work. I only have changed the numbers a few times but it works perfectly. I picked them up brand new when they where on sale.
You can go on their website and buy them brand new for 15 for the non flip one and 9.99 for for the flip version. I personally like the flip phone cuz the battery lasts abit longer but they are currantly sold out of that one.

I have 2 of the flip versions with camera and 8 of the non flip, I usually keep 5 plugged in and 5 on me so I can always switch em out anytime the batteries low and yeah flip ones are my favorite.

Just got a message from VM. They are going to start charging 10.00 for phone numbers changes starting in November.

Omg i hope this news is not real. I have not revieved any email about this change. And all phones go to one email and my main cell phone.

Got this message on 5 different phones now.

Was it by phone text message or to your email address. If its by text, well i don't open any of the text message i get. I don't use these phones for personal use.

It was a text message from VM. I do not have to open it. It list the phone number and the message scrolls behind it.

I just checked mine, I don't have messages like that, maybe it's only with certain phones or plans.

I have only changed the number once on these phones.

The ones I never changed yet did not get this message.

Out of the 5 that i have, i have used only 2 to get new new numbers. Those don't have any texts from VM.

On one phone i only get texts from someone named edith, and how much she loves me. I dont know any named edith. Maybe i should respond back, i love you too.

You can also use the prt sc (print screen) button on your keyboard along with crtl or the fn button and then click in the message box hit ctrl v and it will show right up.

If this gets implemented, there are still others who are cheaper.

Still cheaper than tracfone ultimately. But, tracfone you can get free number by saying you moved

Change your numbers now if you need to.

Now that I think about it, the hassle of doing this with tracfones is far worse then this.

I guess if we cannot afford 10.00 on a new account then we are in the wrong business.

If you have accounts that go down all the time I can see it being a problem but other then that I believe I can handle a one time 10.00 fee and get several phone numbers out of it.

The idea of them charging is the problem with me but I see it as a business tool that we all need and for a one time 10. I think we can all deal with it.

That's good thinking - saving pennies can cost lots of pounds. Business costs have to be factored in to our game plans

B o o s t Mobile is $5 and sometimes free if you tell the agent on the phone it is your first time. Tried and tested.

Any paylo 9.99 anywhere? Need a new one to replace an expiring tracfone

Tracfone isn't a hassle unless you are rolling through numbers.. getting another number on Google voice to free up a lost account is a pain. I'd only change numbers if the actual phone went down. My new method allows me to put

6 numbers per virgin mobile. Its almost worth not using the phones actual number on an account to save the chance of needing to change it. Only established accounts get actual phones instead of forwards. But I've lost alot recently. Hopefully trend stops.

Six for one phone and its free except 10$ per 90 days is sweet imo

Try 7-11 they carry tracphone, virgin and pay-lo.

I still have unused tracfonrs in packages lol.. gonna stick with virgin I think and maybe use tracfones to cycle numbers by saying I moved
