So is a social security required to receive payments when selling on ebay? If I remember right, a few years ago they did this but limited your account to $500.

This would be ideal. Load the accounts to their $500 limits and then use the money to purchase things online.

You can still lift the $500 limit by linking a debit card and verifying a bank account. But sooner or later Paypal will most likely limit the account and ask for the SSN. Of course it also depends on what you sell and how you manage your Paypal account. You want to build trust with Paypal in order for the account to last
