Everybody should offer an opinion on this -

Conman dubbed 'The Man' made millions in 'biggest ever eBay fraud' from exploding golf balls and ⊗⊗⊗⊗ clubs | Mail Online

This guy should have come to Aspkin and follow eBay Stealth a bit closer!

What do you guys think of this? Most of us on here have some connection to ⊗⊗⊗⊗ if we're honest. I know someone who sold a lot of counterfeit golf equipment on ebay. About a year ago Trading Standards turned up at his house and he was given a letter telling him that they know what he's been doing but they won't be taking any action on this. End of. Did ebay just decide to make an example of this guy in the article and he was just unlucky? It seems like he just didn't cover his tracks properly with stealth accounts and left an easy to follow trail with all the accounts leading back to him.

How close have you guys come to the law knocking 3 times on the door?

It doesnt get uncovered often ... but as you said ... alot of sellers are tied to ⊗⊗⊗⊗ in some way or the other... I am pretty good at covering my tracks and am always very careful. I have to be bc of the particular items I sell... which I have recently found out that 90% of other ebay sellers that compete with me are NOT legit, like I thought they were and wondered how they became legit... simple , they didnt :)

I do wonder how these people get caught doing things like this... There are a few ways that come to mind , other than carelessness... but I wont mention them here.

My rules are simple: Stealth all the way, the buyer is always right *IF* Im afraid they may cause me trouble, its best to let it go and give them what they want, and " It wasnt me" HA HA

-always offer refunds to any unhappy customer- preferably get them to return the merchandise to you
-don't sell any 1 product for too long
-once you get the threat letter from the company's lawyer, stop selling that product.
-don't rip people off (in my mind selling a zumba dvd that works just fine but makes wnoever zumba angry is justifiable and much different than selling a broken ipod or whatever)

"He bought at least ten houses in Thailand, many of which he rented out, had a share in the yacht, and owned outright a floating restaurant in Australia.
He also had shares in more than 20 British an international companies, including many Blue Chip firms."

At this point... I would have RETIRED from ebay!!

Ohh I didn't read the article...wow, he must have been greedy and/or stupid.

The whole operation taken down by a single disappointed customer. This is why I will ALWAYS place customers first. Wonder what he did with all those houses...:amazed:

90% of people get busted due to being greedy. Just ask any person in Federal Prison.
