Threatening message
 

Hey guys, I am selling VeRO and I just got an ebay message saying that he works for the company and has reported me to ebay and the company which produces the goods I am selling, and if I do not stop he will report the police as well.

At first I wasn't too worried as it was obviously a competitor trying to scare me, but he/she bought an item from me, or rather bought via ebay and didn't pay of course, and can now see my personal details which I stupidly didn't put in as a ⊗⊗⊗⊗ address. As soon as I got the message I hurried to change all my addresses and tel nos to ⊗⊗⊗⊗ ones, but I'm not sure I got there in time.

Has anyone else been in a similar situation? Any advice would be WELL appreciated.

I still have some stock which I have to get rid of , but I'm thinking of taking a break. It sucks because one competitor will have scared me away :(

Hi there, i wouldn't be overly worried tbh. It could very well be that he is just trying to scare you, plus, if you do not send him the product where is the proof that anything is ⊗⊗⊗⊗ or not genuine? I have often worried about this. I once sold some OEM software without the hardware and business bought them. I ended up refunding the money saying that they were out of stock, so i guess i had a close call there.

The one advantage i had was that on my shipping and registration address it was a generic business name and my university address with many other people there, so nothing directly to me. Perhaps the best bet would be to lay off for a while and maybe just edit your address and set to primary for now :)

it was what your competitor done for you,you need to be careful if you see some buyer only have 0 feedback,they will want to give you some problem and make the bad feedback for you and try to let you down.This is happend to our customers many times.

try to do not let the people know your real address ,real name.it is good for you anway

I have duly edited all my addresses, details etc. I do not send to buyers with less than 3 feedback anymore.

Once I've cleared out my stock I am gonna lay off for a while, then SLOWLY work my way back up, and wind it back down, etc.

You are able to get there address. So why don't you look it up to see if its some type of layers office. If they clam who they was then I really would not think they would but a ⊗⊗⊗⊗ address there. If it's a address to a house then its a competitor trying to scare you away.

Usely when its a layer who sends u these letters it will be profensonal writen and wouldnt use words like sending u to the police or has reported u to ebay. Sounds like a compiter or a snitch to me trying to scare u

I will change my user ID too and stop selling for a while. You could say they scared me off, but I wanted to take a break anyway...

It's obvious I had taken a lot of business away from them, quite amateur scare tactics though... The only thing I was concerned about was my personal details... Hopefully they didn't get them before I changed.

im not sure about the uk laws but in the usa the police wont do nothing when it comes to phake goods. All they could do is report u to the feds but as for takeing u to jail they cant on that reason only. An most cops are lazy and could care less about it.
