You appear to have a static IP. Not so sure that you can clone the mac and change it. :spy: You might need to speak to tpg & change plans or consider a USB wireless modem

thanks for your advise.
in the stealth book, about changing the ip address,it says:"last step,now with you computer,make sure you are connected to you wireless router.

my question is it must be wireless router???

Not at all. Changing MAC is not supported by all hardware, though. If you have a unit from your provider and they combine the router and the modem in a single unit, you may have problems.

First things first, though. Do you have cable, DSL, or what service? It makes a difference.

If the OP is using tpg, he's not on cable. No cable is offered by tpg. They offer ADSL ADSL2 Naked or dialup. Dynalink & Netcomm are the modems recommended. Only two ISP have cable here in Australia. (Big Pond & Optus). :pop2:

Didnt know you can change a MAC on static IP....'mazing:pop2:

Then with TPG, changing MAC won't help.

You can change the MAC address of the hardware device, but if the IP is static, the change of MAC won't alter the IP.

Can't you just buy a cheapo used router and switch them up for new IPs?

Vicvelcro 06-30-2010 04:58 AM

If the IP is a static IP, the provider always issues the same IP regardless of what device you connect. A dynamic IP would solve the problem.

The person needs to contact their provider to see if a dynamic IP is available. If not, the person needs to change provider to one who assigns IP dynamically.

Static=Never Changes
Dynamic=Wants to be the same, but can be changed

tpg may not come to the party: it depends on the plan, of course.

How would my suggestion of a wireless usb thingy go then? :spy:
