if you've got wifi>bb>pc.... your ip is that of the modem coming out of the wall

if you've got cell tower >bb>pc, you've got the ip for the cellular network

for the connection I mean. Now.... ipburger may show the ip of your phone? But I doubt it

Right. So if I read you correct, I'm right. You can not use the home wifi to tether a blackberry. Its just using the cell provider even though its still connected to wifi. Just an illusion that you are using the wifi at all

First Edition 09-15-2010 11:12 PM

i mean... you can... but that's not at all the point. Tether just means youre using the phone as a modem... in that case, to the wifi? Like you said :)

If the phone itself broadcasts wifi though, that's different

So using the wifi you already have access to anyway, and thus it would just be the same IP..... That is if the hardware could work that way. And pretty sure it cant

Any one used Virgin Mobile Broadband2Go before?

Does this offer different IPs?

Virgin Mobile Broadband2Go does not change your IP - found this out the hard way :smash:

rooted Droid X on Verizon is lightning fast and is unlimited data (as long as you dont abuse the hell out of it)

WOW I'm so happy I can change my IP at will and retain them by spoofing my MAC. Tethering/Dial-up sounds sloppy. :juggle:

Changing mac is easy, sure. But you do that a couple times a day and that sounds sloppy too. No?

Not for me because all of my auctions/accounts are scheduled on their own days, so when I'm working on Sunday, I log into my Sunday profile. The MAC ID's I use for that account is in a folder on the desktop. The first thing I do is spoof the MAC to get the old IP, and my home page is IP burger. My wallpaper also has important info on it so I don't get confused. Remember, ebay/PP don't like these IP's changing. They are not a fan of dial-up and such. I know some have no choice, but it's one of the main reasons people get hit with ID verify sooner than later.

Thats an interesting way to do it. I use BIN, so it wouldn't work for me. But still clever non the less

"They are not a fan of dial-up"

I guess. Probably doesn't make a lot of sense for a seller to be using low budget dial-up to operate... A pain to do anything with anyway. Just a last resort
