How many cheap things to list safely on a new account?
 

I have seen answers on this topic all over the board and was never in a situation to actually do it, but now I am so here I go.

Without going into detail I would like to create a new account and I have several hundred inexpensive items that I would like to start at 99 cents and most will sell for between that and $10. There are currently 150,000 different examples of similar items currently listed, so there is nothing wrong with the item.
I have several hundred to sell so I am hoping the answer isn't to list 5 a day. They are all different and would have to all be entered individually, so I don't plan of entering more than 20-25 a day. I would hate to enter that many only to have them all pulled due to the "abusing ebay" excuse.
Would 10/day for the first week, 5 or 7 day auctions be okay?

Hoping this will be a nice little way to start unloading these items and quickly getting feed back up over 20 to lift the 21 day hold

I say post as much as you want. They wont bother you until you start making some real money, but... I'm starting to think that eBay pre-screens accounts and may even mark them off for review in the future.

For instance. Lets say your pattern is to list 10 auctions a day at 99 cent, and you usually make 3 - 6 dollars every sale and you do that consistently for 3 weeks. They don't got the time or resources to keep an eye on you forever, but. In the middle of all that dollar stuff they don't want you sneaking in a Rolex, so they say, this account is fine unless it spikes to $150 or more, then we need a review. I'm totally convinced they have that ability, so do what you must to get your feedback up and whatnot, but once you sell anything of value they will limit the account, but based on personal experience. As long as you are not violating rules you can list as many small items as you want. I started out with 5 items and went all the way up to 12-15 a day depending on how payments, and feedback were coming in.

It will be a very long time before I ever list anything on the account that will bring in more than $200-300. How long before you bring the listings up to 15/day?

I'm only a little skiddish in that I have read about people opening new accounts and listing 15-20 items in my price range and getting them taken down and limited for "abusing" ebay.
I could never figure out how trying to make more slaes using them is abusing them

I sell alot of items that range between $10-$15 ea and sell about 10-20 per day on each account with 1 day auctions and haven't had any problems but I usually start with 1 then work up to 5 and so on.

How about the potential for the MC010? Is that being considered?:spy:
Dont forget about the many posts from users who have said I listed onE* item etc etc etc. Is that factored into the plan?:pop2:

Mine are not e items. They are just inexpensive items. I know that selling a bunch of e items on new accounts are the death knell for new accounts.

GB, refresh my memory, because there are so many. Which one is the MC010?

Nope. Sometimes at the 1st, sometimes weeks later AND even if you've had a MC010 before on the account. Random & problematic ,imo:ranger:

No this is different one this is MC010 not the same as when you list your first item, ebay calls and you enter a pin, MC010 is when you call and talk to a real person and they ask you some questions.

We talking about listing on a brand new account? I would think 5 a day might trigger a soon MC010 phone call or worse ID verification...

Start with 3 at various times and go from there - think there is a new policy that kicks in for max of 100 up for sale by new account during 30 day cycle - and if you hit that max (or $3000), you can figure a verification is coming.

Seems like the U.S. default is mc010 phone call....correct me if i'm wrong.

5 a day at 99 cents to start and selling for no more than $10? That's crazy! even for ebay.
I've created new accounts and put 2 or 3 cars on the first day without ever a problem.
I'm going to try a few more, but with the name, address and paypal (not verified) so if it goes down it'll be no big loss.

Non-verified paypal...think you might be asking to be knocked down shrug.

First of all I have experienced that ebay motors doesn't always do thinks the same as ebay. Just like ebay is somewhat different from country to country.
Also I think they are less suspicious of fraudulent transaction on ebay motors because much more information is required when listing items and usually the cash changes hands direct.

Ah ok so you did mean cars and not typo - wow - good luck on those sales.

never had a problem listing 2 or 3 cars on a brand new account, but like I said I thing it is a difference between ebay and ebay motors

They're usually alwayas at least 4-5 months old age never sell more than 1 to start then work up from there.

That's the one.

I just started listing on an account about a weeks ago...account created first week in august so aged it about 2 weeks. started with 3 listings @ .99 for 5 days now im up to about 8 listings a day with no problems except for 21 day pp hold for 1 item @ $9...

Put 10 on last night, all less than $1...they even offered me the option to put a BIN which I thought that you needed a minimum feedback to do.
Plan on adding 10 more sometime today.

Sad news is...no one is even looking at the items...might just list some in lots just to get rid of them
