Change IP Adress

So I have an iPhone 3GS and all I have to do is turn my airplane thingy on/off to change IP.

Would it be safe to control 3-5 accounts within my iphone alone even though every time I have to keep using different IP's or am I better off just paying $15/m for VPN on my iMac?

Tethering with your iphone the way that you discribed is absolutely fine. It safe, fast & works like a charm
