I have on good authority that there has been a change at PP regarding SSN
 

According to a client of mine; PP wouldn't give them the option of entering a SSN on the site. PP required this person to actually send a fax of the SS card. They also claimed others have been asked to do the same. Is this good or bad in your opinions? For me it kind of says that they wont actually be checking these numbers. Think about it. If your SS card looks even remotely as damaged as mine you wont be able to read several digits. It's old and worn. So what if PP can't really make out the numbers? Are they gonna require you get a new ss card or remain limited? LOL Will they then make the option available to enter it on the site?

I figure that's the reason they never asked to see actual cards in the first place. Too many variables. Entering numbers online makes everything streamlined. You enter the numbers so any error is your own fault. Their computers run the number and send back the info. Simple and fast. With a fax, all that info will all have to be entered manually leaving lots of room for human error, ID theft. Not to mention time consuming. Something tells me a picture ID with a SS card = good to go. We just need someone to confirm if PP will still run the number on the faxed card.

I'm sure they will run it. But they also need to have it in their terms of service that they are allowed to run your SS# otherwise they could probably get into deep crap. And I really don't want to go through the TOS to find out lol...so maybe someone else has time?

Issue here is, and I'm just guessing, is its real easy to get someones number. The card itself, not so much

But you're right, the extra man hours would pile up. That, and again just guessing, is a good thing for you cats. More man hours means the process will be slow, and somewhat unreliable. Maybe a longer run on some accounts before they catch up...

I am POSITIVE That PayPal Never Checked 100% of the Socials they Collected,,,So I Guess the are Just trying to put an End to Just Creating and Giving them a Random Social

@Pod,,There is OCR Sostware that could be used to pretty Much Automate the Whole Process,,,Fax to PCFile to OCR Software to Database Check,,,I Really do not think that its that hard,,,I Mean,,I Might be Wrong,,,Just My Opinion,,,

That will Not Change,,,Same S&it They are Doing Right Now In those Cases,,,

I've always said, it's really up to that person in the review department.... its kind of up to how hard you can sell it
