harassment from other sellers

There is a seller that bothers me from time to time with threating e-mails about reporting auctions to the auction site or to various companies etc.

I usually ignore him but I grow tried of his you've got "24 hours to cancel your auctions or else..." ETC.

Has anyone faced this type of rival seller and did anything come of the threats?

jeffweico 10-14-2010 10:49 PM

This happens all the time, ESPECIALLY on Amazon in the DVD and SOFTWARE categories. Usually, the accounts they use to harrass you are ⊗⊗⊗⊗ accounts, set up for that purpose. Anybody can register as a buyer.

Ignore them. Do NOT respond to them. You could never win an argument with such an individual. They simply want to eliminate the competition. And they figure if they can scare enough sellers away, then the prices stay higher and they make more money.

But they always eventually stop the harrassment, usually when THEIR seller account gets shut down. And they always do. Because guess what? They are the ones selling COUNTERFEITS!

Solid, rock solid advice. A response means they got your attention and it gets worse. You certainly can not say anything to stop them from bugging you. Hit delete, go have a coffee....

I Appreciate the responses guys, they put me at ease a bit....so no horror stories form the tattle-tails of the internet???

I prefer not to play dirty on the guy as much as I got a kick out of your sinister response fenway.

Jeff and Pod I agree with your advice and haven't engaged his communications in some time.

The guys auctions seem legit. He seems to make it a a hobby of his to police the internet. He now seems to think he has cracked some sort of a criminal conspiracy when he noticed the product and location to one of my back up accounts and is taking great pleasure in bothering me saying he knows I have 2 accounts gonna get me in trouble etc. This has been going on for almost 2 years now and I do think he got my 1st account flagged.

This is all part of the auction business I guess.

pod 10-14-2010 11:31 PM

If he/her or anyone decides to take a run at you, they will. So just ignore and hope they go away

Have back up accounts in case they get the best of the account [Then get even]

But until anything happens, just carry on like they dont matter. Because they dont

Excellect advice from my Comrads Pod and Jeffweico as ALWAYS

Look at it this way,,,It is better than them simply reporting your auction,,,at least you have the "Benifit" of a warning and who is responsible

newtools 10-15-2010 02:07 AM

i have gotton the dreaded - e have been advised that you be selling recopied media. other sellers are reporting. thats just BS.

rsot 10-15-2010 10:37 AM

Yet always be ready with backup accounts - while these kind of threats are without backing, with Amazon it can be enough to shut your account down.

pod 10-15-2010 10:44 AM

Sadly, as more sellers realize how easy it is to bring greif to other sellers its likely to get worse over time. There are some out there with few scruples. The system is flawed heavily in the area of sellers messing with each other.

forummember 10-15-2010 01:58 PM

I have a rule: I don't harass, contact or report any rivals unless they do it to me. I see it as fair game to destory someones business when they've tried to do it to you.

Stigger 10-16-2010 04:36 AM

i have this same rule, i dont bother anyone untill they try with me then i go out all guns blazing.

GreenBean 10-16-2010 04:52 AM

Best to keep the s**t off the forum as well. Be discreet now. :boink:

jamblix 10-16-2010 05:39 AM

You don't **** with me, I won't **** with you approach, classic.

Sadly, you can't carry this kind of character on the internet. People are greedy, it's in our nature to eliminate our competition. I think of it like this though, I've never done this, but if I were trying to take a seller out of commission, I would not write them a letter telling them what I'm up to. Everything would be done confidentially and anonymously. The letters are just amateur scare tactics.

give him the religion story... tell him about jesus and how if he does this to you jesus won't have mercy on you unless he is an athiest then it won't work. try it or tell him you work for division 6 or cia or fbi and if he messes with you he is going down.

Live an Let Live is My Approach,,,and it should be the order of the day

Sadly there are some people who Just do not see it that way,,,,,,They feel that they Must "Stamp Out" all the Competion,,,That They, and THEY ALONE, have the Right to sell a Particular Product,,,,,

Sadly,,,,These are People who are Misguided,,, with a FLAWED sense of Entitlement,,,,,Overloaded, and Blinded with an IGNORANCE that Does Not allow them to Understand that they will NEVER have the ability to "Stamp" Anything out,,,especially their very own Intellectual Short Commings,,,I For one,,, Simply let them Wallow in their very own Ignorance,,,Knowing full well that it will drown them Some day,,,,,,

I Just keep Creating Accounts,,and Keep on Selling,,,and Allow those idiots to do themselves in,,,

jeffweico 10-17-2010 11:09 AM

I agree with Slapped, as usual.

I just think when you stoop to their level, you invite trouble for yourself.

Although it is hard sometimes.... Because some of these people REALLY deserve a beat down.
