21 day hold

My ebay account has over 100+ feedback. All positve and all DSR 4.9 and above. Its a pre 11/07 and its been a seller account for about 2-3 months now.

I still get 21 Day holds on my sales, what gives?

aking 10-28-2010 03:01 PM

I dont think it matters anymore, there's no rhyme or reason to the holds. The only payments that I THINK (im not positive) do not get holds is if a buyer pays with his paypal balance, only b/c this is already paypals money, its just being transfered to someone else account. If a buyer pays with a credit card, there will be hold due to the potential for a chargeback.

I'm going to test this someone, gotta figure out how...

I think I am going to use GCO to process my payments.

aking is right. Buyer end seems to play a big role for sure. And the magic marks of feedback or time or whatever seem to be no longer the case.

Voltage 10-28-2010 03:25 PM

This seems to be the case for me to. I am at 99 feedback right now and I been selling for almost 3 months with a 1 yo account that I bought from here and the payments are still being held. One thing that I did notice a month ago is that mobile paypal payments will be held for me no matter what (even after the buyer leaves feedback these payments are held for 21 days). They randomly allow some instant payments to go through but it also seems that when I add the tracking info right away I receive more instant payments.

Same here. Holds for the last month or so carry the whole 21 days regardless of tracking and feedback

I haven't checked if they were mobile or not. If the pattern is mobile payments all get full 21 day holds maybe PayPal shouldn't do them then if feel they are such a concern

Paypal is really proving itself to be very ineffective and inefficient these days.

This is me every night looking at pending payments. >>>>>:ranger:

What gives is you are using paypal. And they change the goal-posts as often as they want.
For every variable we work out, they change matters to protect themselves.

Account ages are not as important. For future reference, if you hear of paypal changing their T&C, then expect variations on their behavior. :spy:

Yeap, 21 days seems to be the norm lately......At least no need to rush like crazy sending those packages out the same or next day any more..21 days count starts from the day payment was made into PayPal..right?

Well, you still need to get out packages. Buyer has nothing to do with hold

But yes, it starts from payment date

Lyda 10-28-2010 09:56 PM

True, but I can take my time for a day or two and not be sweating and putting all else on the back-burner because post office will close at 5pm and I just received payment and its..like 3pm....Before, my package would fly out to post office almost instantly when I received the payment. Than I'd rush back home to input tracking numbers so I can get paid sooner. Now this doesn't seem to be that important any more.

its still important because of shipping dsr.

I'm actually getting pretty pissed at this. I dont mind the holds at all. But feedback AND delivery confirmation are not doing anything

And this is pure hogwash:

PayPal doesn’t hold payments for eBay items if you meet the following:

* You have been an eBay member for 6 months or more, and
* Your total Feedback score is 100 or greater, and
* Your Buyer dissatisfaction percentage** is less than 5%.
Or
* Your average DSR is 4.5 or greater and
* You have received 20 or more DSRs in the last 12 months

These guys need to follow their own bloody rules. I sound pissy because the amounts are starting to add up. If buyer leaves positive feedback and delivery tracking is confirmed there is simply no reason to hold the cash. The deal is done.

aking 10-29-2010 02:49 PM

The thing that kills me is that they dont follow there own rules. All my accounts have over 20 DSR and I still get holds. I may call Paypal and ask them about this personally and see what their explanation is...

pod 10-29-2010 02:58 PM

I'm tempted to call too. Its getting to be too much money tied up for my own comfort. But the guy you talk to doesn't make the rules and one false move the jerk can lock you down

I would like to know why it doesn't work like its stated. Again, I'm ok with the holds and understand them. but when the deal is done that's that.
